Well not as good as the ratings. I had the experience of stopping by one of Granby’s restaurants at lunchtime Friday and although the ambiance of the area was great, the food at the Pearl Dragon was not. Rated high by other fanciers of Chinese fare, the meal was less than satisfactory. The place lacks charm. Cleanliness is not a strong suit, finding the soy sauce bottle stuck to a serving plate and unable to be used. Ordering Sesame Chicken and Kung Pau Beef both served quickly and generous portions for the pricey $8.25 luncheon served with soup and spring roll. The Won ton soup was watery and overpowered by onion. Needing to ask for white meat chicken and finding it tough and stringy was a disappointment, while the beef fared better. The only notable item served was the spring roll.. It would have been a more enjoyable experience if one of the staff had refrained from carrying on a personal telephone conversation and not speaking at a “shrilling” level hurting both my ears and that of my guest. If this is what to expect, then one should refrain from visiting this establishment.
