“Beautiful setting for relaxation with a beautiful view and some...”

We stayed for one night because our friend's daughter had her wedding there. A very affordable place. It has numerous lodging options to chose from. We stayed in a lodge room which has the essentials but no TV or frig. There are other alternative lodgings for that but since we only came for one night that was fine. If you are looking for an affordable relaxing stay in the Colorado Rockies this is a good choice. For winter you are close to Winter Park ski resort and for summer there are plenty of activities for the kids. A beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony and reception with the beautiful Rockies as the background. Also, Rocky Mountain National Park is about 30 to 40 minutes away

Room Tip: If you want a TV and frig do not get the lodge rooms

Pool, roller skating, indoor soccer, basketball, Mini Golf, etc., etc., We had two six year olds with us who loved it, especially the horseback riding.
We stayed at the campground which was very nice. each site had a fire pit and there was a common use area with (free usage of) gas grills.
Staff was helpful, but one has to realize that this is not a commercial resort. Lots of them are volunteers from out of the country. thus, when the internet access was down at 7am, there was no IT personell available yet to troubleshoot the issue. Having only one table tennis ball yet two tables, was a ridiculous downside, but there were plenty of other things to do.

This review is not really about the wonderful time we had at the ranch...IT WAS GREAT...
But this is about the fact that the when you use Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, and even the Map on this SITE...Trip Advisor... The location is wrong.... DO NOT USE THESE DIRECTIONS.... IT WILL NOT TAKE YOU TO THE RANCH.... The Entrance to the RANCH is at the corner of County Road 53 and US 40... DO NOT --- I REPEAT -- DO NOT USE THE DIRECTIONS OR SATELLITE VIEW because it is wrong.

Room Tip: Great room at lodge... NO TV which was great for our family

We stayed here with my wife's family over July 4th weekend. My niece had her Bat mitzvah and reception here. We have been here for the day during the winter and loved all the cross country skiing so it was a nice change to also see this place in the summer. There was plenty of hiking trails (some of which are cross country trails in the winter). These overlooked spectacular snow-capped mountain peaks! There was also fly-fishing, swimming, arts and crafts, and kid's activities. We stayed in a cabin that slept 8 fairly comfortably. We were thinking of going to Grand Lake or Hot Sulphur Springs for the day but there was plenty to do without leaving the grounds. We look forward to coming back in the winter.

Room Tip: Book rooms early

We came here for a family reunion (ages 10 - 68), and stayed in the Willow Cabin.
Pros- Plenty of beds, dishwasher, refrigerator, HD TV, fire pit, access to the rest of the camp.
Cons- Terrible water pressure, only 3 bathrooms for 20 people, small dinning room

Hiking- We went on the chikoree lake hike. It was a 5 mile hike that included stopping for lunch. The sign up sheet said it would take 7 hours, but it only took us 3. It was a good hike for families with older (10-16) kids.

MiniGolf- The course was not really that exciting (it was free though!) and is probably more suited for people with young children.

Family Zipline- good for those who are afraid of heights. The guides make it very fun and safe for everyone!

HiZip- Higher and faster then the family zip, but only open one day a week

Rock Climbing- A very fun experience for the whole group! They have walls for all experience levels. Highly recommended!

Kiva Center- Fun activities for everyone including: volleyball, basketball, pingpong, pool (the game) fooseball, and rollerskating.

Pool- The water slide and "aquawall" were fun for the kids, and the sauna was good for the adults! =)

Recommendation:
-Make reservations for activities, the spaces fill up fast
-Bring bored games for night time

Room Tip: Try and get a cabin/campsite near the main area

My daughter and I took 3 boys to Snow Mountain Ranch and we all had a great time. We had originally reserved a room in the lodge but were able to change it to a cabin when we got there. The girls at the desk were very helpful in getting the changes made and we had to wait only an extra half hour to get into the cabin.
The boys enjoyed everything they participated in and would have loved to have done the zipline but it was sold out. There are many activities to choose from and the food at the Grille was your basic "fast food" type food but reasonably priced and good.
I forgot my phone in the room when I checked out and by the time I had arrived home there was a message that it had been found, turned in, and would be mailed to me.
I give the Ranch a AAAAA because everytime we have gone there we have had a wonderful time. Also, make sure you walk around the Just and Rowley homesteads...wonderful history and great photo shots.

On the plus side, the grounds are vast and offers a wide variety of activities.

The downside is they bring in a lot of college kids from around the world who don't seem to get much training. Questions asked everywhere - Registration, Programs, Dining Hall, Grill, EVERYWHERE - went unanswered or with very generic shrugging of the shoulders, "I don't know" sorts of answers. There seems to be very few seasoned staff members anywhere, which makes good customer service impossible and disappointing!

The place is huge, which means you must have a car, especially if you stay in a cabin. If you have multiple ages/multiple interests, then even 1 car might not be enough. I was disappointed that I had to be the "taxi driver" for my kids. I wish they offered alternative transportation (maybe golf carts?) or shuttles so you could get to different areas without a car. It is sad to be out in nature and yet be so dependent on automobiles. They do have bikes for rent, but even my active 12 year old was intimidated by the mile plus bike ride from the cabins to the activities.

Otherwise, if you have modest expectations, you can have a good time here. Just know everything you need to know before you settle in, because there aren't many that can answer questions around here!
