Owner description: Pioneer life in the hills and canyons near Golden was harsh, difficult, and not for the faint of heart. Most who survived in the beautiful, if inhospitable region, succeeded as farmers and ranchers. Relive the experience by exploring the blacksmith shop, log cabins, hay barn and root cellar. Visit with our heirloom-breed chickens and discover a buzzing beehive. On select days, interact with costumed interpreters who enliven the landscape with cooking and blacksmithing demonstrations. Step inside the one-room Guy Hill Schoolhouse and take a seat in a student’s desk, but don’t wisecrack to the school mistress!

It is a good little walk around the park. It is a free park to walk and the view of the mountains are beautiful. Clear Creek is a nice creek to walk around also. Dog and kid friendly. Kayakers are a bonus to watch.

This is a good little park to take a walk around. They have an old school house, barns, a vegetable garden. Even an "outhouse". Very nostalgic. I don't think that you should have to pay to see inside of the old houses and properties though. It's not alot but still you shouldn't have to pay to see the inside when you can clearly see the outside.

Thank you, Buster M., for your recent visit and review of the Clear Creek History Park in Golden. Indeed, our building collection includes an authentic one-room schoolhouse, several outbuildings, and two different cabins that were moved to the park log by log.

During our operating hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays, between May 1 and Oct. 31, some of the buildings are open for visitors, complete with living history activities run by our costumed interpreters. In the off-season (Nov. 1 through April 30), the buildings are closed except during special events.

However, there is never an admission fee for the Clear Creek History Park, regardless of season. It is always free, open 365 days per year, and visitors can choose to start their self-guided experiences from several different entrances, exploring any of the buildings that are open on any given day (again, dependent on the season).

Regarding your comment about paying to see the inside of buildings, you may be referencing two of our other museums which are also featured on TripAdvisor: the Astor House Museum and the Golden History Center. Each are within a five-minute walk from the Clear Creek History Park, and they each have a nominal $3 admission fee (or $5 for both).

Thank you again for your review, Buster M., and please call us directly at 303.278.3557 if you have any questions or concerns about your recent visit. We would love to hear from you.

A good effort for a small town, but limited hours and could be better described. Free.

This place is fun, not only can you see life back in the day, they often have things going on. Make sure you check their web site for exciting things. The staff and volunteers clearly show how much they care for this place in the way they carry themselves. The Chickens are my favorite, next to the awesome people cooking in the cabin, wow that's a great smell.

The placards around town were informative and written in an engaging style---taken directly from old newspapers when they were written with colorful language. Many of the placards contained funny information. They provided a wonderful walk. Clearly the town of Golden has put a lot of thought into creating a beautiful, inviting walkway along the creek.
