My kids have been to the Clear Creek History Park's summer camps, and they've loved experiencing life from the late 1800s: churning (and eating) butter, learning games and songs, tending to the garden, feeding chickens. It's a peaceful and informative place, often the host for fun summer and fall events in Golden, and often open for no cost but a donation: it's a great free family activity! Get on their mailing list so that you can find out when they've got interesting activities coming up: http://www.goldenhistorymuseums.org/calendar.php There's also a downloadable walking tour to print out in advance of your visit: http://www.goldenhistorymuseums.org/clearcreekpark.php
