It was so quiet, beautiful and peaceful. A great place for an outdoorsman! I plan to take anyone who visits for a driver up there to get away from it all

“Nice Nature Center”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2012

My two boys (2 & 4 yrs) loved this center. The volunteer there was so kind and very informative about the displays. Upon leaving he helped with some maps and was helpful. There is a nice taxidermy display with descriptions and interactive displays to look. They have a small kid area with a "nest" for sitting. Great kid nature books for reading and other interactive things like bones, magnifying glasses and if I recall, rocks, etc. There is a gazebo like look out room with binoculars and headphones. The headphones didn't work but the binoculars were a hit and we saw dear crossing the meadows. We were there in February and attempted to go on a hike, I was not prepared with the boys b/c the snow was packed down and slippery so we will be coming back after the snow melts! But others were on the trails and they were usable! It is located right next to Boettcher Mansion and was a beautiful location right outside the city. And it was free!

“Easy visit.”

The Jefferson County center here is a great place to take your kids, grandkids, Brownie troup or Cub Scouts. You can make it a day with looking at the buffalo and picnic at Denver Parks near by.

“Must see for visitors”

A great spot for an easy beginner's hike with a wonderful view of the city and plains beyond. There are picnic tables available for use and the Nature Center offers interesting information about the area's flora and fauna.
