Owner description: Gravesite and museum dedicated to the life and times of Buffalo Bill Cody.

Took a drive up here in Dec when we were going to check out Golden. Fairly small museum and I think it was $5 to get in. There is a 10-15 minute video that plays periodically in a small theater and I'd recommend seeing that before going through the museum. Lots of interesting memorabilia to see and documents to see. The gravesite is a very short walk from the museum and the views from this site are great. There is a small restaurant on site along with the obligatory gift shop.

I thought the museum was very good and definitely worth the trip. Great views on the drive either coming in from 70 or from Golden. Nice shops to visit in Golden as well, not to mention the Coors brewery!

Like some other folks have noted, we took a little car ride just to acclimate to the elevation and ended up here almost by accident. Unfortunately it was late and the museum was closing but we did get to see the grave site and go through the shop and café. The shop carried a lot of tourist type stuff but also had some interesting photos on the walls. The cafe didn't look to spectacular and seemed to specialize in ice cream which it was too cold to enjoy. I think this is a great little site just to get a feel for the mountains themselves and see some of the natural beauty without driving very far from the city.

We needed to take it easy for a day due to altitude acclimatization, so we spent a day on Lookout Mountain instead of skiing. The museum was fun and informative. Buffalo Bill was a man before his time who promoted equality for both women and Native Americans! Lots of artifacts and memorabilia to see and experience.

. . . all in one spot! We enjoyed the stroll up to the gravesite (free) and then visited the museum (fee). Because we arrived near closing, the woman at the museum kindly offered to let us in free the next day if we wanted to come back. We spent about 45 minutes strolling and reading the exhibits and learning a lot about Buffalo Bill and his interesting life and career. We grabbed some fudge for gazing at the views and meandering back down the mountain. Nice tribute. (the gift shoppe, btw, is more than a little over the top with STUFF, but that's OK--it's what vacations are all about)

If you like the Old West this is the place for you. The views are spectacular and the museum is full of artefacts and history. The gift shop is pretty tired and dirty and mainly offers tacky souvenirs which let done a great attraction. Like wise the café / eatery is scruffy and offers mainly junk food. Go for the museum and view. Unless you are really desperate give the restrooms a miss!
