We stayed at this Ramada for a week in August, 2012. Arrived by Amtrak and enjoyed the prompt courteous shuttle van to hotel and back. The hotel location is great for walking to many or most Glenwood Springs activities and lots of restaurants; fast food convenient too (Subway, KFC, mexican takeout-very near). Even the walk from the Amtrak station is easy if weather cooperates. There is a town busline that stops right in front of the Ramada and travels all over town for $1 per ride--no need to rent a car. But we had very poor housekeeping services and the front desk staff couldn't provide even very basic information (i.e.Soda machine had no price posted, and didn't take paper currency. The desk clerk had no guess of price and no supply of coins, she made no effort to help.) Our room was shorted on service and on basic supplies every day (i.e. towels, face cloth, toilet tissue, facial tissue, trash not emptied, bed unmade). The maid arrived at various unpredictable times--as late at 5:30 p.m. (very annoying) though we heard and saw her cleaning neighboring rooms before 11 a.m. One day she never came at all. Yes, the hotel desperately needs updates and attention to detail. Furnishings, carpeting and walls all are soiled and worn. The linens and towels need replacement. We gave front desk a list of repairs needed in our room and a maintenance person came promptly, but didn't have the materials and/or authority and knowledge to bring the room to average status. (i.e. toilet flush would stick open with loud running water at least 60 to 75% of times used--very irritating in the middle of the night. One drawer knob was off, couldn't be replaced; 3 lampshades were torn/cracked.) If you have allergies, be sure to ask for a room that has not had pets. We saw many pets in the hotel including dogs of all sizes, I wonder if they keep any rooms "pet-free." The restaurant in the hotel served only breakfast (buffet on Sunday). Some guests had vouchers for free or reduced price breakfast, but our clerk didn't know how or why we didn't receive that "bonus." The waitstaff (except for one cheerful woman one day over the week) was slow, inefficient, forgetful and bordering on rude. Maybe it was first day for all (but one) of them. The food we were served was mediocre at best.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for pet-free room BEFORE you arrive if you have allergies.

Location was good and front desk were friendly but those were about the only positive things about it. The carpet turned our feet black, there was a hole in one of the walls, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. I also was not aware of an $100 arrival fee. Well, there goes money I wanted to spend in Glenwood. There was a sign saying it would be deposited back into your account but I have yet to receive it so I'm sure they found a reason to not give it back.

Basically, I'm pretty sure there are way better hotels in Glenwood. I would definitely not recommend this one.

We stayed here with extended family because of its pet-friendly policy, but we'll gladly return (with or without the pet). We were skeptical because of other reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. The suite was very spacious -- two big rooms, separated by a door. Staff was friendly, and the room was clean. The restaurant food was good, with prompt and friendly service. Very convenient -- we could walk to the hot springs.

Room Tip: Suites were a great value!

We rode the Amtrak from Denver to Glenwood Springs and could choose between either the Hotel Colorado or the Ramada. With the high temperatures, we opted to stay at the Ramada because it had air conditioning. It was a farther walk from the station but had a shuttle that picked us up although it was not available for any other drop-offs in town. The hotel was dark and needs updating; carpet was very dirty and the room was large but so dark! It came with free breakfast which was okay, but nothing to write home about. We were placed next door to a family with a SCREAMING child - and they might as well have been in the same room - we could literally hear them talking and yelling. At 8:30pm, we called the front desk to inquire if there was another room we could move to and were told the hotel was full. They said they would call next door - and they did - we heard the entire conversation! Afterward, the people next door started banging on the walls and yelling at us! After 2 hours, we went downstairs to talk to the manager again - he said when they called the first time, they woke up the other child (of course, we knew this!) and he did not offer any solutions. We went back upstairs and got to sleep - then woke up again at 12:30am to the screaming child. As the parents of 4 of our own, we get cranky, tired kids - but this was ridiculous. Thankfully, they checked out the next day but we were never offered any compensation or apology and would NEVER EVER go back here!! Added to this - there were people with HUGE dogs everywhere and there was pet hair all over our room. Absolutely the worst hotel experience EVER!

The location was good, the rate was fair, but this was a horrible experience. 3 out of our 4 towels had brown spots on them, 1 out of the 2 washcloths had brown spots, the comforter was prob about 15 years old and was dirty, the bathroom was disgusting and badly lit (although that may have been a good thing, not being able to see that well), we showered with our flip-flops on. I had to go to the front desk to get a clean towel and when I was there I had to wait (which wasn't a problem for me) because another guest had stains on her comforter and was getting it switched out. I felt bad for the night manager girl, b/c she had to manage everything by herself with terrible facilities and a lot of guests complaining. The phone at the front desk was constantly ringing and she couldn't answer it b/c she was attending to all of the guests complaints. To sum up this place; 1. It's very understaffed. 2. It's not hygienic/safe 3. It hasn't been remodeled since the mid- 1980s. 4. It charges the same rates as other "nice" hotels so you won't save any money staying at a dump like this. Do not stay here unless you don't mind catching a communicable disease.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere.
