“Great place to stay, great staff”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

Just across from the Station and very good location, very helpful staff, pleasant room and good public areas. Convenient for centre of Glenwood Springs. No breakfast but plenty of places nearby. Dinner at Juicy Lucy's, a few doors was great. Lots to see and do in Glenwood Springs.

Room Tip: North room had a view of the hills.

This hotel was really a joy in which to stay. We had never been to the south side of I-70, and the hotel's location is great for shopping, dining, seeing residential areas, biking, hiking. Reception staff was anxious to help with questions and concerns, directions, area tips, parking info. Our bed was comfortable and covered with a lovely quilt. The sitting room, although small, was appropriate for our needs. One drawback--breakfast is not really a meal-- just apples, energy bars & coffee/tea.

This is a hotel with a long reputation (many decades) that was refurbished apparently in recent years. It's not inexpensive, in fact it's too expensive. There are better choices for the money. Because we opted for the least type of room (called a standard) we got postage size room with a stained glass window that it you opened looked out over another wall. It had a nice wood floor, but no throw rugs of any kind (expect cold tootsies). The bathroom was also 19th century size. Try the Hotel Colorado if you want something old but more interesting. The good reviews you read are probably from those who can afford the upscale rooms. Note: breakfast consists of coffee and yogurt only (and a bit of fruit - apples).

We stayed here for four nights in September and were not disappointed. We chose the slightly cheaper 'internal' room as we expected to be out and about all day and this was perfect for the amount of time you spend in a hotel room on vacation. The hotel is ideal for exploring the area, is just across the bridge from the outdoor spa and is only a 15 minute walk from the gondola which takes you up the Adventure Park if you dont want to take the car. There are lots of good restaurants nearby and a few bars to chill out in at night. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The hotel will also sell you slightly discounted tickets to the springs pool and give you additional towels and a bag for the day.

Room Tip: you may be worried about noise in chosing an internal room but we had no problems with noise so have...

We used Tripadvisor to book this hotel and were not disappointed. The location is perfect especially if you come by train. It is located just across the street from the Train Station. It's also in the best area for local restaurants and a short walk from the hot springs.
The hotel was very comfortable. The room not large but adequate and homely with the patchwork quilt. There is a lot of history there which makes a pleasant change from the more modern hotels. The staff were very attentive and gave good advice when asked. The micro brewery adjoining was another attaction which was popular.

We booked two nights here as we're on a road trip and we took tripadvisors advice and booked. All I can say is WOW! We have stayed in countless hotels over the years all over the world and this has been one of the best! The staff on reception are certainly the best we have ever encountered, so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The lobby is full of fine victorian furniture giving lots of character. The room was beautiful, with antique furniture, handmade quilt and four poster bed. The only thing we would have liked in the room was a small fridge. We ate several times at the restaurant attached which we found very good with reasonable prices
(chicken enchiladas - excellent!) I see another reviewer complained about being opposite the railway station, did they actually go and have a look at it? It's the most beautiful little station I've ever seen. All spotlessly clean with polished wood everywhere, it was like stepping back in time. And as its only open 9am - 5pm, what's the problem? Please if you're considering this hotel, you won't be disappointed!

We selected the highly rated Hotel Denver for our anniversary stay and chose a quiet room in the new wing. The room turned out to be small, with no closet or places to hang clothing except a small knock-off armoir. We had to pile our things all over the place. There was no where for dirty hiking or biking clothes. The bath was also very small. Then, for a rainy evening, we thought we cuddle in to watch one of the "first run movies" that supposedly came with the room. There were only second-run movies and they cost $16 to rent - more than going to a movie house. Also, the cable service has no guide, so you never know what's on television or when. When we asked the front desk, we were told to scroll through the channels - and of course, wait through all the commercials. Now, if this were a discount hotel, we would have figured that we were getting what we paid for - but it was anything but. The reason we gave the hotel two stars (rather than none) was because the staff was great - very friendly. Oh, also their idea of a nice little breakfast at this high priced hotel was some weak coffee and a granola bar.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel.
