We drove from Denver to Glenwood Springs for a friend's 50th birthday party. The trip itself goes through spectacular mountain vistas and is capped by a drive through Glenwood Canyon. This is one of the prettiest interstate drives in the country, with high canyon walls on the sides and a rushing river coursing through the canyon. Upon arrival at Hotel Denver, we were greeted with courtesy and interest. Hotel Denver allows pets (with no addiitonal fees) in one section. They also have a section which is pet free. The accomodations are cosy and comfortable. Antiques abound throughout the hotel and its rooms. The rooms have been updated and are quite nice. What impressed us most was the positive attitude and friendliness of the staff. Although there was also a wedding party at the hotel and a triathelon the next morning, the hotel was quiet.

We stayed in a room with a view of the Mountain and Train Depot. The Hotel is across the street from the Train Station which is too good to be true since we came to glenwood springs on the California Zephr. The front desk knew the time that two breakfast venues opened and that one served a more hardy menu. They also provided infomation on "Adventure Park". Overall, very informative and helpful. The hotel is very clean and classic. Room with a view facing the Depot is best. You can ride the Roaring Fork transit Between Mt. towns and in-town for free if you are over 65. Can't beat going to Aspen from Glenwood Springs and back for free. Bus runs every half-hour during the day.

Room Tip: It is around $30 more for a room with a view but well worth it. Facing the train depot is best.

While it is true that the staff are friendly and the rooms are nice, the decor is phony, and the prices high. No breakfast is available on site, shocking for such an expensive place.

David, thank you for commenting on your stay at our hotel. We are very proud of our staff and happy to hear you thought of them well. Granted, we don't advertise that we do offer breakfast, but we do offer a coffee bar with coffee, tea, granola bars, apples etc. Many guests like to stroll to several near bye eateries for breakfast. I'm sorry you think we are overpriced and not a great value. For that opinion, I truly apologize. We try to deliver the best possible experience at the lowest price, but unfortunately, we missed hitting that mark with you. I thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns to my attention and I wish you the very best in your future travels.

Sincerely,
Scott D. Olpin - General Manager - The Hotel Denver

My wife and I joined another couple who had stayed at the Hotel Denver previously and highly recommended it. We purchased the "Room with a Brew" package which included pool passes for the hot-springs pool and a $20.00 gift card to the Glenwood Canyon Brewpub.

The customer service at the hotel was superb. The employees were genuinely warm and friendly. Our room was on the smaller side but very clean and quaint. This history associated with the hotel is very interesting and is described throughout the building. The hotel allows guests to check out very nice, thick towels to bring to the hot-springs pool across the street, which is within walking distance of the hotel. Additionally, there is a comfy library and computer usage for guests. The hotel is located very conveniently in the downtown area; very close to some of the best restaurants I have ever visited (The Italian Underground, Our Daily Bread, etc.). The attached Glenwood Canyon Brewpub has a relaxing atmosphere, great food, and the best beer I have ever tasted. I recommend ordering a sample tray, which includes small glasses of each of their 8 handcrafted beers. The customer service at the Glenwood Canyon Brewpub was equally as impressive as the service at the Hotel Denver.

I cannot wait to return to Glenwood. My wife and I are committed to visiting Glenwood annually for the rest of our lives and will make the Hotel Denver our destination.

Room Tip: Because the hotel is downtown, it can get a tad noisy.

Unlike many hotels, we didn't hear any of the other guests through the walls, and only occasional noise from below, even though tthis is nearly the center of town. 10 minute walk to the hot springs, with lots of neat views along the way. Also neat to see the amtrak stopped at the station across the street. Good selection of channels on tv as well. Bathroom/shower was slightly dated, compared to the rest of room. but sparkled.

thanks!

Our family of five spent three nights at the Hotel Denver last week. We took the California Zephyr to Glenwood Springs, and it stops right across the street from the Hotel. It's in a great location amidst the Glenwood Springs shops and restaurants, and only a three to five minute walk across the Colorado River to the Hot Springs. The Hotel even provides large, cushy bath towels to take to the Hot Springs. We spent two nights in their deluxe room, the Cupola, and one night in a more standard room. The rooms are well appointed and extremely clean. But the best part of this hotel is the staff--all of whom were extremely pleasant and accomodating, especially when our return train was delayed for five hours. My best stay in Glenwood Springs to date.

We stay here every year on our annual motorcycle trip. We will continue to stay at the hotel Denver. The staff, scott manager was awesome! The rooms are clean, comfortable and the hotel is within walking distance from the hot springs.
The only bad experience was the female bartender in the brew pub Sunday night, black glasses with sour puss on her face. Very nasty and sarcastic. We won't return to the brew pub . Instead of brew pub go to an excellent resturant around the corner called the The Grand, the burger, fish and steaks were out of this world. The chef Chris is the best.
We will return to the hotel denver!

Room Tip: Ask Scott, manager at the front desk, he is very helpful, just ask.
