“Glad we turned around”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2014

My husband is not as adventurous as I am when it comes to food, so we passed by Polanka in search of something more "mainstream". After a very short while, I convinced him that he would find something he liked. Turned out to be a very worthwhile u-turn. The facility is very basic, but the food is outstanding and cooked fresh to order. I love homemade food and it is not easy to find on the road.

“A Little Gem right next to your Friendly Neighborhood Pot shop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014

I have been meaning to stop here and haven't had the opportunity until today. What a surprise!. A nondescript joint, in a nondescript strip mall, distinguished only by the brisk business of the pot shop next door, advertising today's special--maui wowie. This restaurant is run by a mother and son team with home-cooked Polish food. The food was very well made, and very tasty but you have to ignore the spare surroundings. The Pierogis were light and flavorful, not the thick doughy mess you might expect. The polish sausage was grilled perfectly. But for me the star was the stuffed cabbage. Usually the cabbage is undercooked and the filling has more filler than meat. Not here. The meat was seasoned beautifully in a light tomato sauce. You just know that someone in this restaurant knows how to cook. For what they do, they do beautifully. A real little gem in Glenwood Springs.

“Home cooked German”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2014

What a find! Delicious home cooked German food. It's like sitting in your Grandma's kitchen. Inexpensive and delicious. I will go every time I'm in Glenwood Springs! Love the combination with sausage, home made sauerkraut, pierogies, and cabbage roll. The potato pancakes and homemade applesauce is yummy too!

“Fantastic, traditional food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2014

Traditional, filling, inexpensive, and delicious. Our family stopped here for lunch after reading other reviews and we were not disappointed. We shared one combination plate and one order of potato pancakes for four people and no one was hungry.

The cabbage roll was very good and so was the sauerkraut and kielbasa, but the pierogies were our favorite. The potato pancakes were excellent with sour cream and applesauce. We shared one order of cheese blintzes, too, but other guests had the apple blintzes and they looked fantastic.

Service was friendly and efficient, even though they were super busy. We will definitely return.
