“Definitely a must see!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

My husband and I hiked the trail over Labor Day weekend. We arrived around 8:45. There were still plenty of parking places, whereas the day before at 2:30 there weren't any. We are competitive and like to good challenge. Our time to the top was 31 minutes. I can definitely see how some people find it challenging. It all depends on your fitness level. I saw people from two years to around 75-80, some fit and some were struggling to catch their breath. It is absolutely breathtaking and I am so glad we went back a second day to try to find a parking spot. Some of the most beautiful views in the world!

“AWESOME!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Don't be fooled - this IS a tough hike - not for someone who has never hiked or exercised before. Bring plenty of water - and a snack for the top! The reward at the top is WELL worth the hike. Plus there is alot of shade on the hike - but we sweated a ton - and you hike along the stream which is beautiful. Kids even found a Geo Cache in a little wooden structure about 3/4 the way up.

“GREAT EARLY MORNING HIKE”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

A little steep best to do around 7:00 a.m. before the steady stream of people arrive around 9:00 a.m. Hanging Lake worth the hike.

“Great hike; fantastic lake; too many people”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

This is a great hike that is challenging, but doable, for most -- especially if you take it slow. The lake at the top is beautiful and more than worth the hike; don't miss the waterfowl coming out of the mountain on top. This is an extremely popular hike so either go early or be prepared to encounter LOTS of people both going up and coming down.

“Great and wonderful hike!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Love this hike! It's not exactly for the most faint-hearted as it is all steep and rather rocky, with some segments being stairs-like, but it's wonderful! You're surrounded by the stunning Glenwood Canyon, and most of the trail is in the shade of trees, often with a stream beside it making the air much cooler and very pleasant.
Getting to the top, at Hanging Lake, is a total reward for your hike, it's totally gorgeous. There's a waterfall that falls into the lake and you can hike above that too. The view is spectacular.
I would recommend hiking sticks for better footing, seeing that a lot of the trail is rocky. There are many places along the way where you'll want to stop and enjoy the beauty, while you rest a bit if needed. Absolutely loved this hike and will definitely do it again.
