“We will stay here again!”
Reviewed July 27, 2011

David and Liza are wonderful hosts! What a great place to have "home base" as you explore the Colorado Rockies! The food was amazing and the room was very comfortable. I went for a Girls Weekend Away, and they had a room for 3 of us! Lots of personal attention and they will help you with anything you might need while visiting the area. Perfect B&B!

Serving as the "home base" for those who are coming to experience what we enjoy all the time, is one Secret to this B&B. If you forget your hiking gear, bike lock, daypack, fishing pole, sunscreen, ski poles or snowshoes; no worries, we have extra you can borrow right here at the Best Kept Secret homebase. Better yet, e-mail ahead of time and save bringing that cumbersome item on the plane! (Yes, we have skis too.)

This is a great little place to stay in Glenwood Springs! It is on the right side of the river to be away from hotel row yet very close to everything. We parked our car and walked everywhere. David and Liza are suer friendly and Liza is a great cook! They are very kowledgeable about restaurants and things to do in town. Make sure to take advantage of the discount card from the B&B to the Athletic Club. An extremly good deal and the best way to enjow the pool and hot springs.

We advertise that we are in the heart of downtown Glenwood Springs, but it takes being here, as this guest says, to really appreciate our immediate access to the things to see and do. There are two ways to experience the Hot Springs pool: through the public entrance or the private athletic club. During the week, the atheletic club entrance costs a little more; but on the weekend, they cost about the same. One of our Best Kept Secrets is the Athletic Club entrance!

This was the perfect set up for 3 of us women friends to spend a long weekend together in "the Study" where, besides a bevy of books, there is a queen size bed and a single Murphy bed that folds out of the wall. (By the way, if you can make it 3 nights instead of 2, it is ideal as there is sooo much to do in and around Glenwood Springs. We hiked and biked so much, we didn't even make it to the hot springs.) Liza and David's attention to detail was amazing, including my nondairy preference for food. They offer you 3 possible breakfast times (8, 8:30 and 9 am) and you fill out a menu every night with your "order." I think it's helpful to know that they have a beautiful golden retriever that is very gentle and kept out of the way, but if you are highly allergic, you may be sensitive to the dog's (hidden) presence. There is also a mini-refrig for your use. If you are at least a moderate biker, you may want to take the RFTA bus up to Aspen ($7 per person, $2 per bike) and bike back to Carbondale (about 32 miles, mostly a downward slope) or all the way back to Glenwood Springs. If you want to hike Maroon Bells, you can drive all the way to the trail parking lot before 9 am and after 5 pm. Any other time, you have to take a bus from one of the Aspen ski areas (easy to find; $6 per person).

Room Tip: The Study has a bathroom in the room. The other room has a bathroom across the hall.

Highly recommend this B&B - Glenwood Springs was the highlight of our stay in Colorado - hiking, biking and white water rafting. Inn keepers David and Liza were friendly and helpful - would stay there again if we every have the good fortune of returning to CO!

Thanks for taking the time to inform others about your Best Kept Secret stay in Glenwood Springs. Our history does not begin to compete with Massachusetts (Pilgrims and the Sons of Liberty); but I suspect that hiking, biking and whitewater rafting will never be quite as much fun back in your home state, now that you have experienced it here on the Western Slope of Colorado!

We only had one night to stay in Glenwood and made the perfect choice. David is most entertaining. I hope to read the book he recommended soon.

We stayed with David & Liza for 4 nights and they were absolutely wonderful in providing information and history about the area, places to go, things to do, and very, very helpful. Liza's breakfasts were wonderful, too! We especially enjoyed Jessie, their dog, who if you wished her to be around, was very loving and fun to those of us missing our pets at home! Would recommend a stay here.

One of our Best Kept Secrets is that Glenwood Springs is the "hub" in the wheel of fun things to see and do. Even in a 4 night stay it is hard to do it all (spa treatments, swiming and or relaxing in the Hot Springs Pool, sightseeing, caving, flyfishing, rafting, biking, hiking, jeeping, horseback riding, and paragliding are all doable from the B&B, enhancing the summer fun of being here on the Western Slope of the Rockies!

My husband and I stayed two nights last week at this wonderful B&B. I purposely selected the room called the "study" which was a room full of ambience; bookcases filled with books, comfy bed and a nice size desk and chair which my husband found useful for his laptop. There was also a nicely renovated attached bathroom. Proprietors, David and Liza, are great hosts. David is a source of information and Liza prepares a beautifully set table, adorned with lovely china, fresh flowers, soft music, lit candles and her breakfasts are superb! We also enjoyed using the hot tub and a couple of their bicycles for touring the vicinity. We would definitely stay again at Glenwood's, Best Kept Secret Bed and Breakfast. Its fun to hear reviewers discuss or compare the room they select for their visit. The Boudoir and the Study are very different (unlike a lot of B&B's where one room is pretty much the same as the other). The managers each have a different favorite, which until you come and stay will remain one of their Best Kept Secrets.
