I hiked up to Hanging Lake with my family on the 4th and absolutely loved it! If you enjoy the outdoors and seeing Colorado, you should definitely add this place to your list. We arrived at around 8:15am and there were already a lot of people in the parking lot so I recommend getting there earlier to get a parking spot and before it gets too hot.
The hike took about an hour going up, though I did see a lot of families taking their time to get up the trail. A lot of rocks and a steep climb so bring your best hiking/walking shoes and plenty of water. There are benches along the way to rest and a lot of places to sit around the lake to take in the view. Make sure to take the trail up to Spouting Rock above the lake (the water source). It only takes an additional 5 minutes and it's a beautiful waterfall.
