“An excellent small mountain”

Sunlight Mountain Resort

Owner description: Sunlight features 67 named trails covering over 470 acres. In addition to miles of cruising intermediate terrain, Sunlight's East Ridge has one of the steeper runs in the state. Aptly named, The Heathen falls beneath your feet at a breathtaking 52 degrees. Sunlight is home to one of the longest trails in ski country, Ute, a beginner slope that winds more than 2 miles from summit to base. Sunlight also hosts some of the best tree skiing in Colorado with many aspen groves untracked days after snowfall. All trails converge at the base lodge, so friends and family can always keep track of each other
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Stairs / elevator, Activities for older children, Activities for young children, Lockers / storage, Bathroom facilities

If you are expecting a huge mountain with all the perks, go somewhere else. If you want unpretentious skiing and a beautiful, small mounatin experience, Sunlight is the place for you. Because it is off the beaten path, Sunlight is never crowded even on the busiest ski days. There is enough terrain to explore to keep the whole family happy. The lifts are old and certainly not high speed, but the view is incredible. Everyone is super friendly and genuinly glad to see you. The ski instructors are great and will remember you the next time you visit.

Zero lift lines, small prices, tons of powder, what more do you need in a ski trip? What Colorado skiing used to be. Terrain that went from expert to beginner, this was our ski trip.

We love skiing at Sunlight and have done so for years. Great local vibe and lots of mountain to enjoy. Lessons and food... Good for out of town guests to ski and get the Colorado feel without spending all their money at the mountain.... wish they would take care of the facility a bit better, however. Needs some new paint and for restrooms and dining area to be a bit cleaner:> That's the only suggestion I have!

We enjoyed the ease of access to Sunlight from the Glenwood Springs area, you park just below the ski lifts and don’t have to carry equipment on busses or trams just walk up to the ski shop or if you plan ahead and rent your equipment and by lift tickets in town you just walk up and jump on the lift. Cost during holidays was still less than the ski areas in NC we go to but we enjoyed powder and groomed trails some untouched as we arrived early. Food and drinks were quite reasonable also. All and all would return here before paying twice as much at Snowmass where we skied the next day with many more people and without the convenience of being able to just drive up and start skiing. If you like flashy resort type places this is probably not the place for you but if you want to get in some serious ski time this is the place.

I took the family to Sunlight over the Christmas Holiday. Stayed at the Brettelberg Condo ski in and ski out Great Place! Hope we can get back to the resort again...kids asking when can we go back. The person who reviewed the microwave issue I hope you said something to the manager and not writing a review like a spineless coward. I don't think Sunlight management would let a fourth grader go hungry! Shame on you if you just stood idle.
