“First time in this hotel: GREAT PLACE!”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

It was a wonderful weekend in that historic hotel. Have been told, that this old hotel has no AC, but the big fan in the room was just the right size for cooling down the room in the night! Enjoyed the beautiful view to the mountains and the great historic place. If you ever come to Glenwood Springs: Stay in this hotel and enjoy the atmosphere in the lobby and the large hallways! You'll feel like you are living in times of the first settlers. Don't miss the Hot Springs and the Adventure Park! And also have a large Margarita at the Mexican restaurant "Fiesta Guadalajara" next to the hotel.

We stayed in the Bell Tower Suite. We were upgraded upon check in. It was an amazing place to stay with great history, great staff, great food, & great ambience! We will be coming back with the whole family soon.

Staying at Hotel Colorado reminded us of the movie Somewhere in Time. It's a Victorian hotel with great history. There is no air conditioning in the rooms and our room did get very hot. You will want to ask for a fan, if there is not one in the closet. We especially liked the outdoor patio in the evening. A negative is that hotel parking was limited

We love the Hotel Colorado, and my family and I have stayed here many times, enjoying the many acitivites that Glenwood Springs offers.

This historic hotel is beautiful with big lobby made up of antiques, comfy sofas and lots of space for kids to explore and have a chance to travel back into an age forgotten. There's a tiny elevator or just simply take the broad staircase past the Botticelli Venus painting up to your room. We stay in a family room with adjoining bedroom with bathroom between.

The front courtyard is full of plants, flowers and a fishpond. They now have firepits where one can sit around and chit-chat while having a beverage. The food and service is good at the restaurant, and I find the room service reasonable, for a change. In the morning, we usually order cinnamon rolls for the kids and coffee, toast, eggs and cereal for us.

The front desk is friendly and helpful. They leave out a bowl of dog biscuits for the furry friends that stay- I believe at last note, $25/dog/stay. The rooms are clean and beds fine. There is history about the hotel stated with photos and write-ups scattered throughout. Of course, Teddy Roosevelt stayed here and you'll see his bust upstairs.

Plenty of stuff to do in Glenwood; simply walk out the hotel and there's minigolf, take the bridge over to town to eat and shop or simply watch the cars, train or river go by; the huge hotspring's pool is a short walk(15 minutes) following a paved path. Within the hotel, is the bike shop. We ride along the Colorado river- absolutely gorgeous- they have all types of bikes for adults, kids and carriers, and tandems. One can also ride trails near town. A short drive takes one to the gondola up the hill for the amusement park, caves and great views. Also, there are the vapor caves, river rafting, and a good trek up to Doc Holliday's grave.

Glenwood Springs is our overall favorite family trip in Colorado(2 1/2- 3 hours from Denver) and Hotel Colorado our favorite historic hotel.

P.S. I cannot speak for summer stays. We usually stay in spring or fall. I believe they have no aircon in the rooms, but use fans, windows including windows above the doors to cool the hotel.

Room Tip: family room for family stays- they offer 3 or 4 beds

We have family of 6. We have stayed at the hotel 4 summers in a row and will stay again. I can't belive all the bad reviews. It is a charming hotel, great value, kid and pet friendly. Everything from the Hot Springs to great resturants are in beautiful walking distance. Come enjoy your stay!

This is our first choice of places to stay in Glenwood. We love the history and the beautiful gardens, and the fact that dogs are welcome. The rooms are pretty, if old, but everything works and we like the historic nature of the place. It is clean and well run and the staff is friendly and helpful.

I am from Denver and I love staying in historic hotels. This is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better then the Stanley in Estes Park. For being a historic hotel it has as much modern amenities as it can possibly have. If you book 21 days in advanced the rooms are much less. I love this place and will definitely be going back and staying again. The ONLY down side is that they do NOT have air conditioning but they make up for that in hospitality, friendliness, and historical value!!

Room Tip: ask for a courtyard view!!
