Don't miss Bike riding through Glenwood Canyon. There are many places to get on the trail, you can start in Glenwood Springs, or you can get on at the many rest areas off of I-70. It doesn't have any major elevation changes, but there is a gradual increase in elevation if you are riding east. We got on the trail at "No Name" rest area, then road to Hanging Lake, then turned around and road back. The trail takes you through several rest areas off of I-70, perfect places to stop and enjoy the scenery and take a restroom break. Even though the trail is right next to the interstate in many areas, you almost forget you are right next to the road. Enjoy the scenery, watch the people rafting and kayaking on the river, watch the passenger trains and coal trains wind their way through the canyon. If you don't have your bikes with you, there are many places to rent bikes in Glenwood Springs.

12 mile paved wide bike path along the Colorado River. Riding from the east end of the canyon into Glenwood Springs is 90-percent downhill with amazing views of the canyon every pedal of the way.

You really should take the time to bike the canyon if at all possible. We grabbed the shuttle from Canyon Bikes so only had to bike one way back to Glenwood Srings. It was an easy ride that is suitable for younger children with only one real climb to speak of. Nice wide bike path the whole way, several places to stop along the way for water and vending machines, and incredible scenery the entire way. A great way to spend a few hours.

Nice gentle 16 mile ride through the Glenwood canyon, stop off about half way and hike up to hanging lake. Get there early to beat the crowds. We went with blue canyon bikes on the 0845 shuttle to the head of the trail. Our only grip was that the trail runs next to I 70 most of the rout, but still well worth doing.

My wife, teenage son and myself rented bikes from Glenwood Adventure Company who took us to the trail about 15 miles away and we biked back to Glenwood. There are only a couple of smaill climbs. The path goes along the river and beside and under the interstate although you are safely separated from the traffic. The scenery is excellent. We had rafted the same section, which has a great stretch at the beginning, but otherwise is pretty tame. Thus, if you had to choose between rafting and biking, I would pick biking.
