Rented sturdy comfort bikes, got a ride to the top of the trail. All of us (age 55+) had a great time - rest stops along the way, some shade here and there, and the beautiful views! Kind of odd with I70 highway overhead. Mostly flat and downhill, with a few brief up hills here and there. Happy to recommend!

The bike trail is terrific. It is well maintained, and follows along a spectacular view of the canyon and the meandering Colorado River below. Lots of pull offs and public bathrooms. The grade is gentle for the 12 mile path and it's easy enough for children and those who are not in the greatest of shape. There is a Kodak moment around every turn.

we were coming from the east of Glenwood Canyon and parked at the Bair Ranch rest stop, a small rest stop with restrooms, adequate parking and a couple of vending machines. We then got on our bikes and took the trail heading west towards Glenwood Springs. I would recommend this as an alternate parking area if you can't park at hanging lake, to me it seemed the closest alternative to hike or bike from. The trail follows the Colorado and is a nice cruising path that doesn't require a lot of momentum. Being able to view the engineering feat that is I70 above you is also quite incredible. It's a great place to watch rafters, kayakers etc and we had fun watching them rip through some of the rapids. We also waved to the amtrak that went by. Gorgeous wildflowers on the way as well as butterflies, chipmunks, gecko's and a lot of crickets. The one strenuous part of the trail is the hill leading up to 'No Name'. Once at the top we realised there was a downhill section of the trail which we knew we'd have to come back up but regardless we carried on the Glenwood. No Name is THE cutest little place with some homes dotted along the river. In Glenwood we took a load off and had some cold drinks before heading back. The climb back up at No Name was a steady climb and did workout the muscles and the lungs. In all by the time we got back to Bair Ranch we'd done a 31 mile round trip bike ride and it took us 3 hours. Amazing ride that I can't wait to repeat.

We rented our bikes at Canyon bikes at the historic Hotel Colorado. They shuttled us to the trail head at which point we biked down to hanging lake trail. Gorgeous trail along the river; definitely recommend this activity while in Glenwood Springs!

Glenwood Canyon Resort offers 10 AM and 2 PM packages to shuttle visitors with their rented bikes to the trail head to see Hanging Lake followed by a bike ride back to Glenwood Springs. We were late, but the owner of the resort arranged a special tour package for our family. He went out of his way to accommodate us after hours and was happy to serve us. The hike was beautiful and well worth the effort. The 12 mile bike ride along the Colorado River in the valley among the cliffs was awe inspiring. We highly recommend this resort to RV travelers. Great location! Easy access to town, bike trail and activities. And, the service was excellent.
