We rented a bike for my wife for Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. The bikes were well maintained and the staff went out of their way to make sure the bike was properly fitted. They also had many helpful hints on bike riding in the Glenwood springs area.

This is the second year I have used Canyon Bikes, rather than schlepping my own to Glenwood Springs. CB staff made sure my daughter ( who hasn't biked in years) and I who covers over 150 miles a week) had the best bikes for out height, skill and comfort. Our helmets were patiently and perfectly fit, a safety feature that is seldom taken seriously, but is oh so necessary.
Once we were outfitted we took the shuttle to Basalt. Miles, our driver was full of interesting and important information about how to most enjoy our 21 mile trek back to Glenwood. Armed with good maps and advice, provided by CB our trip was amazing!
Be sure and stop at Rock Bottom Ranch, a beautiful and educational resource for children and adults. We took over 200 photos on the way back. The scenery is breath taking. Don't forget to stop and look back- the views are wonderful in both directions.
Our Canyon Bike experience was a best value! I will never take my own bike when I can rent terrific equipment like theirs at such great prices.

Just returned from a holiday in Colorado, during which we managed to include a ride down the Glenwood Canyon Bike Trail in early May - before the trail was temporarily closed due to flooding from the Colorado River. Absolutely spectacular scenery and a great form of exercise for 2 not-quite ancient 60+ year olds! Neither of us had been on a bike for nearly 30 years so anything but downhill was a little bit on the tough side but still manageable without bringing on a heart attack!!!
We hired the bikes from Canyon Bikes, adjacent to the Colorado Hotel and they were absolutely brilliant to deal with. They were very professional in their approach to ensure our comfort and safety, making sure that Helmets fitted properly and the Bikes were the right size and comfortable for us. We took their Shuttle up to the Trailhead (perhaps unsurprisingly, we opted for the Downhill route!) and Jeff, the Driver, was very helpful and informative - an absolute mine of information delivered in a very relaxed and entertaining style. One of the best experiences we had on our trip to Colorado and can highly recommend the Glenwood Canyon Bike Trail and Canyon Bikes.

We visited Glenwood Springs in late August of 2010 and really enjoyed the small town. One of the activities we pursued was renting bikes from Glenwood Adventure Company and riding the one-way Glenwood Canyon bike trail. Now, the trail is actually a two-way trail, but one way is 90% downhill and the other way is 90% uphill - well, you can guess which one we chose. But just to ensure that you are picking the right choice, we wanted to tell you that Glenwood Adventure Company took us with a shuttle to the top of the trail, and it was pretty much downhill from there.

The trail is very beautiful, for the most part hugging the Colorado River. We saw rafters and kayakers on the river and stopped at various scenic spots to take pictures (some below).

It took us about 3 hours to make the 10-mile ride from the top back to Glenwood Springs, where we had lunch and then took a nap at our hotel.

It was a great way to explore Glenwood Canyon and it was a fun bike ride.

We rented bikes through Canyon Bikes at the Hotel Colorado. After fitting us with helmets and bikes, Canyon Bikes shuttled our family 16.2 miles up the canyon to the trail head. The trail is 98% level or downhill. We are not avid bikers and it was a bit challenging towards the end. Overall, just about anyone of any experience level should be able to complete the trail in 3-4 hours. If you do get tired, Canyon Bikes will pick you up at one of the rest areas. Hanging Lake was closed this year (2010) for renovation so we hiked a tiny bit up Grizzly Creek trail instead. Absolutely beautiful. We had to stop at one point and let four big horn sheep move off the trail. The whitewater rafts are fun to watch (I would highly recommend that as well). The Glenwood Canyon is staggeringly beautiful.
