“Best hotel experience we've ever had”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

My wife, two friends (a couple) and I stayed at Zephyros for a week in late September 2013 at one of the "apartment with jacuzzi" rooms.

Our experience was exquisite.

We were picked up at the port and transported by a friendly staff member (Antonio)who was very accommodating and candid.

As soon as we arrived, the receptionist and hotel owner walked out to welcome us (which is something we've never experienced before). Since it was too early to check in, they allowed us to leave our luggage in the lobby, invited us to some coffee and allowed us to use the pool until our room was ready.

The receptionist (Helen, just a complete sweetheart who would not stop smiling and doing everything in her power every day to satisfy any of our needs)came to the pool area to let us know the room was waiting for us after a short time.

The room was absolutely stunning. A pretty sizable apartment with two master bedrooms with their own tvs and ACs, two full bathrooms with gorgeous showers, a pretty decent kitchen (great for simple cooking) and a spacious living room with a couch. The apartment has also an outside table where we had dinner most days and a pool area with a private jacuzzi (not heated) surrounded by sun beds. Best, most gorgeous room we've ever stayed at.

This hotel offers free buffet breakfast with enough options to please anyone. Fresh food prepared daily that ranges from croissants and pastries to fresh fruit, cakes and savory crostinis.

We only had lunch at the hotel's restaurant a couple of times since we were trying to save money. Their prices are very reasonable (inexpensive even when compared to other establishments), and the food quality is superb. The menu is varied, very mediterranean and changes from day to day.

2 minutes walking down a slope there's Paranga Beach, which we deemed as the prettiest one from all those we visited (about 6 or 7). The vibe is relaxed, and there are a few establishments with food and drinks right at the beach.

7 to 10 minutes in a different direction there's Paradise beach, which is arguably the most famous beach in Mykonos.

Right at the hotel's entrance there is a bus stop that takes you to Mykonos town. We never used it because we rented quad bikes (probably the best option to see a lot of the island), but I gather it's another convenient feature of the hotel.

In comparison to other hotels in the area, and given what this hotel offers; we all agreed the room prices were anywhere from "fair" to "cheap". It felt like getting a Porsche for the price of a Fiat.

If we had the time and budget to take another vacation to Mykonos, we would absolutely stay at Zephyros. Once you stay there you will understand how it feels to be treated like family to such extent that the hotel will stay in your heart in the same place your own vacation home would be.

My stayed for six nights at this hotel from 8th September and it was fantastic. Compared to other hotels in the area the rooms seemed reasonably priced and on arrival we were more than pleased. Great sized room, nice pool area and perfect location for Paranga beach (one of the best beaches by far), and the coach/bus to Mykanos town stopped directly outside the hotel - this is one of the easiest transport option and is cheap and cheerful. Had dinner here and the food was lovely. Great taverna on Paranga beach and very cool lively beach bar playing great music. Opportunity to hire sun beds and waiter service. You can also walk to Paradise beach via a little short cut which is handy. Would recommend this hotel to anyone of any age.

This was a part of our Honeymoon trip. I think Mykonos is all about and nothing less just clubbing and food. Definitelly Tropicana Beach bar was the best beach party we have ever experienced and Sassa as a conducting entertainer was doing more than well. Cavo Paradiso fulfilled our expectation of good sounds. Mykonos town restaurants - excellent typical Greek food. What gives you Zephyros then? I need to say - harmony of all around and asylum to have a good rest to start another day.
It all started at the Airport, when we were picked up by very nice, safe driving gentelman. After app 15 minutes we were at the doorstep of our hotel. Our room was perfectly situated with pool and sea view. Mythos beer at the very start was and still is my best choice. What is worth to mention - this was the only hotel in my life with the pool filled with sea water!!!. Nothing better to expect!! You just have no crowd, nice music, sea water and drinks. Nobody is bothering you to sell you any fake watch, pirates CDs etc. Sea food in hotel restaurant was made with excellent Asian touch and soul (you can guess why...) and definitelly was better than in any other resaurant we were dining in on this beautifull island. If you need to buy anything - there is a Paraga Hostel shop situated app 50 yrds away. To go to Mykonos Town - you just pay 1.60 Eur and here you go. All Mykonos is yours till app mindnight. And Bus stop is just opposite Zephyros hotel. What is worth to mention - kind of attraction - please pay attention to perfectionism of bus drivers. There are three good clubs near hotel at the beach. It would be almost like Paradise, but .... If you try to dining early evening on Paraga beach - there is one small drawback - and please bear in mind this is nothing to do with hotel: you will find yourself in the middle of three different sources of music.... Not exacty the same music and at least not really the same rythm, but this is all Mykonos is famous about...Well - returning to the hotel - our room was serviced perfectly and in time convinient for us. The last or first morrning disco-busses returning from Cavo Paradiso - are stoopping away from hotel, what gives you fresh air on the walk which take app 10 minutes. There only 58 taxis on this island so you would be lucky to get one. Zephyros is away from Cavo, Tropicana, Paradiso club, Kalua etc, what gives you a chance to sleep well after coming back in the morning. Paradiso is ending around 09.00. so just get your breakfast and get a rest at the Zephyros pool sunbed. You will get nice chill-out music not too loud to let you have a short nap...( this unfortunatelly depent of how Bartender understands your afterclubbing situation...) Sometimes you will find some broken glasses under beds after nights sessions, so for your own sake avoid going bare food in the morning untill pool bar staff clean area. WARNING NOW: Whenever you want to rent 4x4 or quad, please consider safety first. Roads are very narrows on this island and most drivers are drunk. On our last night when returning from CAVO - one car rolled down from the hill around 05.30 in the morning and on our way to the airport - it was two bikes - head -to -head accident. No insurances then...
Whenever you decide to charge your room with all your bills for food and drinks during stay in Zephyros and pay when checking-out - I suggest to sign all particular bills for each dining session as this is normal pratise all over the world. Avoid to mention your room number aloud when you pay cash.
I hope this will be of help. Good Luck!!!

Room Tip: Corner room with sea side and pool view - first floor

My main feeling about Zephyros is that it's a hotel that is aspiring to be more than it really is. While on paper it theoretically has the right amenities--staffed front desk, restaurant, pool, breakfast, etc., the problem is that all of them are done pretty poorly. The staff wasn't particularly pleasant, the restaurant was mediocre and the pool was well--just typical. The other big problem is if sleep is on your agenda this won't be good. It is noisy at almost all hours and the sound proofing the rooms is pretty bad. The bathroom was also pretty meh for a 3-star hotel. Overall a disappointment. The only saving grace for this place is that it is a quick walk to Paradise Beach, so if that is really your main goal it might still be worth staying here.

I had the opportunity to visit the island of Mykonos this past summer (August 2013). I was referred to the Zephyros hotel by my uncle, and by all means I was not disappointed. This hotel is so beautifully constructed. The exterior of the hotel is classic Cyclades style colors; blue and white with hints of gray. There is an AMAZING salt water swimming pool which is surrounded by many comfortable lounge chairs, an EXCELLENT bar, and a nice view of the sea. Overall, after staying at Zephyros, I cannot imagine staying anywhere else on the island of Mykonos.

Besides the beauty of the hotel, the location is to die for. If you are interested in attending beach bars on the most popular locations in Mykonos, Zephyros hotel is the closest hotel to all of this. It is a 1 minute walk from the front of the hotel to the beautiful Paranga beach (this beach so happens to be my favorite because it is more sheltered from the Mykonos winds than other beaches). If you would like to visit Paradise beach, it is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Also, the food is excellent at Zephyros. The prices are not overpriced; they are on par with the service and quality of the food. Actually, I believe the prices are great considering the prices of food in downtown Mykonos. Zephyros has a beautiful outdoor dining area with top class restaurant servers and waiters. Since Zephyros is a family run hotel, you will often be greeted by the owner, Mr. Vayos, or his daughter, Tina. They WILL come up to you and ask if you need anything and if your stay is going well.

In addition to the family's courteousness, both Vayos and his daughter can speak French, Italian, English, and Greek among other languages! This is very helpful for international travelers. I was able to meet Vayos and play ping-pong with him at his games area; myself (an English-Greek speaker) was able to play table tennis games with a beautiful Italian girl because of Vayos' translating of our words! Such a wonderful experience!!!!

When I stayed at the hotel, I met people from France, Italy, Norway, and Greece. It was truly an international experience. The best thing for English speakers is that all workers of the hotel speak excellent English.

In summary, the Zephyros hotel and its owners show a great attention to detail. From the extra clean rooms, to the "Greek-village" style flooring around the pool and eating area, to the clean silverware, and EXCELLENT tasting food, Zephyros excels. Since breakfast is included in your stay, you will want to wake up early to grab some food from the feast. They have all kinds of breakfast, from fruits, yogurts, breads, sweets, eggs, meat, and juices!

Last but not least, the interior of the bathrooms in the hotel rooms are amazing. The shower is slightly enclosed in a tile/clay shaped half-cylinder. You have to see it to believe it. When I showed my cousins in Greece the picture of the bathroom, they were shocked. They had never seen such a nice bathroom in any island hotel in Greece. The rooms are truly something special at Zephyros. The rooms are also very romantic because of the yellow canopy over the beds.

Man, I could go on forever about this hotel. I will definitely be staying there again. It is WELL WORTH the money. Trust me. This location, staff, and facilities are above 5 star. Just remember to book early because they fill up.

Sincerely,

John K.

Room Tip: Book early in order to reserve a room with an amazing sea view!

Zephyros is a gem. Don't worry about a thing, as soon as you arrive at the port someone will come and collect you and your luggage. You're whisked away to Paraga Beach, which is a short bus ride away to Mykonos town (the bus stop is literally out the front of the hotel) and costs 1.60 euro. You're also a short walk to Paradise Beach where lots of bars and clubs are. But Paraga Beach is still a great spot, there's a few places for drinks and music, a lovely beach, yet Zephyros Hotel is tucked away enough to be peaceful and relaxing if you need it. The pool is gorgeous with lots of sunbeds and there's great views. We ate lunch by the pool every day and enjoyed the Zephyros salad with pork, feta, walnuts etc.. It was delicious!! Maria worked at the pool bar and is a cocktail genius. We let her make us whatever she wanted and each time we were not disappointed. They were a good price too! The rooms were very comfortable and had charming decor. The wifi only worked in the reception but there was ample seating. Breakfast was buffet and quite good, we ate it on the terrace with panoramic views - stunning. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Best part of the holiday was Mykonos town and this hotel. Everything about it was perfect. It was the first time we had stayed there but it was obvious that there were many guests that had stayed here before and return every year. At the south of the island it is on one of the most popular beaches so if you want the Mykonos night life there is not far to go. Whilst the busses in Mykonos are pretty good, in the afternoon the bus to Paraga and Paradise beaches is the same one and both of these beaches are so popular that it is not uncommon to be left behind (because there is no more room in the bus) or to be crammed in with 120 other tourists into an 80 seater, at at 40 deg temperatures its not the most pleasant of experiences, so if you can afford it, hire a car, moped or quad bike, most people do.

All of the rooms are air conditioned and it works really well. Windows and terrace doors are double glazed so at night you don't hear the beach disco. The sea facing rooms have a great view but the pool facing ones are just as good. Rooms are all a good size. We had rooms no 31 and 33 both sea facing as well as 19 garden facing.

The hotel itself is really pleasant and the staff really friendly. The pool area is fantastic and a real oasis, not only does it look like one but it feels like one too. Lunch and dinner menus are the same but at dinner you have an added option of two special dishes. Lunch is pleasant enough, by the pool side, but dinner on the terrace (also overlooking the pool and sea) is really a treat. The terrace is cool and the specials were fantastic on the two nights we had dinner there.

We would certainly stay again if we ever return.
