I couldn't have been more disappointed in the Santa Train Georgetown Loop railroad ride. First, I had booked "first class" tickets for our whole family, 6 people. I thought that because the tickets were more expensive that you would get something a little different than all the other seating on the train... wrong! The train was over sold so we got shoved into the front car that was exactly the same as all of the other cars. Then Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived for approximately 5 minutes, just long enough for the train photographer to take a photo with them. We didn't see them again for the rest of the hour long ride. The on-line description before I bought the tickets stated that they served cookies and hot cocoa. This is only partially true. They came through asked if you wanted a soda or water, then gave you a pre-packaged cookie or a bag of potato chips, ... really? No cocoa.
Then the photographer came back and tried to sell you the photograph they had taken for $20, again, really? It seemed just like an opportunity to make even more $$ from you as a tourist. The kids were wondering where Santa was the whole time, I guess he was too busy taking photos?? They and I were very disappointed.
I just feel they could have made the experience so much better by just doing some simple things. Serving cookies not in a package. Serving hot cocoa. Maybe having an elf in each car leading Christmas carols, or telling stories, Instead we really felt like we were like a bunch of cattle, herded on the train and rushed off as the next group was waiting when we returned to the station, This is definetly a DO NOT DO for Christmas & anytime of the year!
