This resort is more than beautiful, and the experience was nothing short of magical. The view s the Palisade mountain above the resort was awesome. Great weather on those sunny CO days when you can enjoy the pool and hot tub. Outdoor fireplace by our own hot tub was a real treat. Enjoyed the Allegre Quilt retreat for textile artists...the setting certainly inspires creativity.

We are very happy you were able to be a part of our very special Alegre Retreat. You can't help but be impressed with the majestic Palisade and it is the most photographed landscape in Gateway. Based on your description, you stayed in our Kayenta Signature Suite, which has a combination of all of our best features and amenities. Inspiration and creativity come naturally here in this stunning red rock country. Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I do hope you will come back for Alegre in 2014.

Warm regards,
Tammy Anderson,

I accompanied my wife to a 5 day art workshop at Gateway Canyons and was very pleased with the entire experience. As dozens of other reviews have clearly stated, the scenery is nothing short of spectacular! There are numerous "adventures" to be had here - beautiful stables, miles of hiking and biking trails, ATVs, mountain and fat-tire bicycles and even helicopter tours and a pretty hard-core "Baja" truck experience. Kayaking and rafting are also options depending on the season and water level. The on-site car museum is loaded with gorgeous examples of the automotive arts. Not to be missed.

Accommodations are very nice, clean, and well-maintained. We stayed in a double queen room and were able to look at one of the bigger rooms with pool and patio. Very, very nice. Lots of closet and drawer space and a mini-bar fridge with room for keeping personal items cold, too. Plush bathrobes, hair dryers, and all the personal potions complete the package. Cleanliness is obviously a big part of the corporate strategy.

We did not experience the restaurants on site 'directly' (fine dining Entrada, Paradox restaurant, and a coffee cafe adjacent to the main desk). However, I have no trouble giving the resort an "A" for the meals served in the group buffets - easily the best large group dining I have ever experienced. The chefs at Gateway Canyons are very adept at incorporating local foods and tastes into their presentations with terrific results. Bison, Trout, Colorado beef tenderloin, and local delicacies appeared at every meal.

Back to the title of this review. This resort has been in a state of transformation and upgrade over a period of several years. The Kayenta Lodge evolved from another building and is beautifully incorporated into the southwestern look of the resort. There is a amphitheater for "stage" events. A spa offers various massages and other body tune-up delights. The Athletic Center has a small but very well equipped work-out room and a dance/yoga studio. The resort is currently completing several large 'Casitas' that are configured for family reunions and group use. They are expected to be finished this Spring.

The best aspect of our experience had to be the service offered by the well-trained and enthusiastic staff at Gateway. Each and every person we interacted with greeted us with a smile and was willing to go to great lengths to make our stay memorable. We were greeted by name from the moment we arrived. Management is obviously committed to providing the highest level of service to the guests at Gateway - and it shows. We hated to leave!!

Sometimes you forget that you don't have to travel the world to have a simply outstanding vacation experience. I live just one hour away but had a chance to stay at Gateway this past weekend. The room with fireplace and enclosed patio that looked out into the canyons put you in another world immediately. The service was impeccable. We ate dinner at the Entrada and had cruisine that would rival any gourmet resturant in the world for quality and service. I highly reccomend it to anyone, including fellow Colorado residents.

Three fabulous days at a beautifully managed resort, surrounded by incredible views of some of Colorado's most majestic canyons and cliffs -- can't get much better than that. Actually, it DID get better. Our room was beautifully appointed, with a lovely fireplace and our own private hot tub (actually, a heated, mini-pool!). They even brought us dinner one night, with no service charge. Mountain-biking was a treat (Road 4.1 was neat, but 4.2 right under the glorious Palisade even better). To top if all off, we took an exciting 2-hour ATV ride up to the mountain top, led by the charming Mandy. Spectacular canyon views! Worth the price. The staff was amazingly nice, particularly Tammy and Mark at the front desk, and Leticia in the cafe. We went during Spring break, so the pool was not open (it was being power-washed, which was a small annoyance). No biggie -- too many other fun things to do.

Room Tip: Ask about pool and public hot tub availability. The pool opens later in spring. The elegant restaura...

Thank you for your spectacular review. It is always appreciated when a guest will take the time to write about their experience, but even more special when associates are named. Reviews are always shared with the staff. The next time you visit, you might try going up John Brown Canyon Road. The views are equally magnificent.

Between the majestic scenery and a wonderful experience, our stay at the Resort was a memorable, restorative weekend. Our room in the Kiva Lodge was beautifully furnished, comfy bed and pillows, quiet, with a fireplace and private hot tub. We like to eat & drink local and appreciate handcrafted fine dining, and the Entrada Restaurant was brilliant. Massive redcliffs surround the resort, we enjoyed peaceful hiking, would be great for mountain biking or paddling on the Dolores River. The staff at the resort were attentive and thoughtful about our comfort. All in all, a handsome western resort, great staff, fantastic dining, stunning scenery. Include a stay here if you are visiting the wine country in Palisade, just up the road near Grand Junction.

I'm so pleased to hear we helped make your stay at Gateway Canyons a wonderful and memorable experience. I'm glad you were able to hike the local trails. We have been very blessed to have the Volunteers of Colorado, COPMOBA and BLM help build these amazing trails located adjacent to the Resort. I have stayed several times over the past 4 and half years at Gateway Canyon Resort. Each time has been enriching to my mind, body and soul. The pure stillness of the region is a vacation in itself. The suites are private and appointed with finest furnishings. The meal selections on the menus utilize local ingredients and are prepared with love. The staff are friendly and care about making your experience a memorable one. I highly recommend a massage at the spa, explore John Brown Canyon or simply sit and relax in your private courtyard sitting in the whirlpool and watch the sun dance along the weather painted red cliffs..Amazingly beautiful...Looking forward to our next visit.

Dear Dr. Roman,
Thank you so very much for your thoughtful review. You always spread such joy when you visit Gateway Canyons. Our housekeeping associates always bring in the inspirational notes you leave in the room. The next time you visit, we recommend a helicopter tour and our new Driven Experience, but keep your Spa appointments as a reward.

My wife and I have lodged at Gateway several times in the past: we have even enjoyed two New Year's eve parties at the resort. Imagine our delight when we won a raffle prize giving us a room for two nights and a pair of tickets the annual music event, "Barbecue and Blues". What a wonderful prize for Gateway to donate.

I thought to myself that this would be a great opportunity to upgrade to a hot tub suite. I called and was told that the upgrade could be handled for little or no money. After that things fell apart.

When we arrived we were told that my American Express would be charged an additional $300 for the upgrade. I was dismayed, but no one seemed to want to listen. Since I had already played the big-shot with my wife, I went ahead with the expensive room.

The room was superb. The music was good. The fireworks were sensational. The barbeque was poor - c'est la vie.

When we returned home I thought I should tell someone of the $300 dollar charge. I e-mailed management, and, apparently, I didn't rate a reply. That little snub ended my love affair with Gateway Canyons Resort. I will miss bringing my street rod to the car show. Adios, Gateway.
