“Beautiful, relaxing property”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2012

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay here. It is secluded without being too far from town. Rooms were spotless and well appointed, breakfast was outstanding. We were able to get to hiking spots easily, and they are just down the road from Devils Thumb Ranch where horseback riding, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing are available. Will definitely return!

My husband and I had a great stay at the Wild Horse Inn. There is a lot of hiking to do around the inn and the food was GREAT!

So relaxing and peaceful with a bottomless cookie jar and complimentary wine. Atmosphere and inn layout makes a stay very comfortable and stress-free and our breakfast was outstanding. I echo another reviewer comment's that the inn could really use an ice maker as there were 2 groups of clients looking for ice while I was visiting. Location is close to Winterpark ski area and only 30 miles from Rocky Mtn Natl Park. Location is very quiet and staff is very friendly and helpfu. I definitely plan to visit again.

Room Tip: Only room we saw was the one we stayed in.....Palomino. I believe all rooms are great but those ups...

We recently stayed at the Wild Horse Inn and really enjoyed our time out there. It is in a beautiful location with lots of great hiking and biking nearby. The lodge itself was beautiful and the breakfasts were wonderful! It's located close to numerous ski areas and only a 30 minute drive to Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park! I would highly recommend this inn for a weekend get-away! The only thing that I could say is a downside is that we could hear the people in the room across the hall occasionally, but other than that it was the perfect weekend!

Room Tip: We were in the Strawberry Creek room and could hear the people across the hall...but the views from...

The Wild Horse is a great place to spend a few days as we did over a recent weekend. The staff is friendly and quite accomodating, the breakfast food delicious, the rooms in the main lodge large, well furnished and clean, and the surroundings and views spectacular. The close-in cabins are also lovely if the one we toured is any indication. Stay in a cabin and you're only a few steps from the lodge and breakfast. It's location also serves well anyone wanting to participate in the many outdoor activities available in the Fraser Valley and surround.

Only one downside we could think of....there was very little ice available & we had to drive to the nearest town for ice. Other than that....we were impressed by the atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff, the beautiful living room & big fireplace, the hot tub, the bottomless cookie jar, and the breakfast was amazing. Everything was homey and very clean. The bed in the Apaloosa room was really comfortable....(although it was so high we almost needed a stepladder to climb into it!) Great view of the mountains. Like another reviewer said, Bella the dog was one of our favorites....she's adorable & loves to play fetch in the back yard. The location is great, but if you're using a GPS to get there, keep an eye open for their sign on the road. Our GPS wanted to take us a mile past the Inn for some reason! it's a short drive to Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park, Grand Lake, Fraser, and Winter Park, which all have nice places to eat and shop, & all the locals we met seemed very friendly. Unfortunately we missed the area's "season" by a week, so lots of the local attractions were closed. We'd love to go back soon - next time we'll go AFTER Memorial Day!

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw in the lodge are very nice. If you can afford a little extra, the separate cabi...
