“Don't stay here”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

Located right next to a major highway the grounds impressed me in the first instance with the lack of attention paid to them. The site appears to be a former quarry with very poor drainage for tent camping sites. Every time I tried to shower either one or both of the shower blocks were out of hot water. The staff were also rather surly and the wifi doesn't work. I would not recommend staying here to anyone.

We opted to stay here our first night near Colorado Springs because we enjoy the KOA atmosphere. We regret this decision! We stayed in a cabin w/o bathroom. There was no privacy, we were right up on our neighbors. The bathrooms were near but were horrible, smelling of urine in the showers and two stalls that did not drain water. There were also way too few bathrooms and showers for all of the folks staying there. Upon walking back to the cabin, you could smell sewage wafting through the breeze because the dumping is in between. We saw a couple of nice RV drive thru's and the deluxe cabins might have been better. The pool was so crowded our kids didnt want to go in and the hot tub was full of teens. The cabin was clean (but we doubted the cleanliness of pillows and matress pads offered) and the mattress was good- firm and comfortable- these are the only good points. Whatever happens to KOA's that don't live up to the KOA standard, it needs to happen here.

Other reviewers have said it all. The place is ugly; it's much too close to the Interstate AND the train tracks; bathroom by the small Kabins is small and musty; Kabin smelled strongly of mothballs; A MOUSE ran in before my eyes as I was getting ready for bed; wifi doesn't work; and pool hours in brochure are different (shorter) than those posted.

I left before the store opened so I couldn't approach the staff about these issues. However, the lady who welcomed me (and the young fella who escorted me to the Kabin in his golf cart) were both very pleasant.

I have a fierce brand loyalty to KOA; this place is not worth the name. Look elsewhere.

Loved this koa, booking on website bitterly messed up our reservation we finally were able to explain to staff how uncommon bathrooms were in a cabin(website error) we booked Cabin 11 it was amazing roomy double bunks 2 rooms with air-conditioning. Camp kitchen staff was friendly pizza was poorly undercooked clean showers & laundry. Pool area & hot tube small not worth sharing very cramped. Over all great stay

We spent two nights in the area and chose the Kamping Kabins. Unlike every other KOA cabin we have ever stayed, this one actually featured real mattresses in the beds (versus the standard vynal normally found) which was a pleasant surprise. The campground offers a lot of extra curricular activities for the kids and the family with a sports park, cafe, pool, etc. The hot tub was being repaired while we were there so that was a bit of a disappointment. The rates were a bit high but considering the overall experience was not too bad. The staff also has weekend activities and holiday activities including movies, games and other family fun. As a previous writer mentioned, the wi-fi is shotty at best and the staff was merely OK.

We were unexpectedly rerouted due to the wild fires! We pulled in here tired and ready to take a break. They immediately went to work trying to find a spot for our RV and trailer (they were quite full because they had taken in many people that were evacuated from their homes due to wild fires)! They were having some computer issues so the manager Belinda went above and beyond to make sure that we were quickly taking care of we were so grateful! As others mentioned it is very close to the interstate, we see this as a plus because it makes it so easy to get to wherever your destination is or points of interest. You could tell that they are working to make improvements at the park! My four kids very much enjoyed the playground!

Room Tip: The RV sites with patios are great
