“No complaints whatsoever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2009

The hotel seemed new and very clean and tidy. Check in was friendly and efficient, and the room was top notch. Good breakfast. If I try real hard to find a complaint, the only thing I can think of was that we had a bit of a walk from the parking lot to our inside-corridor upstairs room with no elevator.

After reading prior reviews, I booked a one-nighter here. This is an older hotel which has has been kept up pretty well. Probably best to do the review with postives and negatives:

POSITIVES:

1) Appeared to be pet friendly with a big area in the rear of the property for dog-walking.
2) Friendly front desk staff
3) Clean (except linens - see below)
4) Noon check-out.
5) Moderately quiet.
6) High Speed internet was easy to get on (unsecured, wireless).

NEGATIVES:

1) Lot's of patches/prior maintenance that is very visible. Mineral build-up on shower head (sprays side-ways!), chipped/cracked tiles, worn drawers, stained comforter on bed, etc.

2) Uncomfortable, hard, lumpy mattress (although this can be a personal thing)

3) 'Free' breakfast area looked like a bomb went off. Not much food, little periodic maintenance, messy, trash everywhere. Cereal and waffles - but that's about it...No, wait! Here he comes unwrapping some more mini-muffins (two-packs, eight muffins). Oh well. Gone already. I'll just get some coffee.

I probably would pick another hotel next time for a low-cost stay in the Fort.

Unlike other earlier reviewers of Fort Collins' LaQuinta Inn, my wife and I do not search out motels that are a part of this chain nor do we stay at any of them more than once or twice a year--if that. If this inn is any indication of what we might expect of such places, however, we have been making a huge mistake. Ratings on Trip Advisor, as on any other similar venue, are like apples and oranges--a LaQuinta Inn, anywhere, is not by any stretch of the imagination the same as a Four Seasons hotel in New York or Chicago. Still, we have no hesitation in givng this particular site a strong, unanimous 5-stars and, indeed, if it were possible, we'd make it a 6 or even a 7.

Almost everything about the LaQuinta shouts out service and caring concern on the part of its owners. Located directly off the I-25 freeway that runs from Wyoming to Denver (and beyond), it is easy to access for anyone in a hurry coming or going. In our case, we arrived quite early but the staff almost literally jumped to accommodate us and when it was impossible to get our room ready in a few minutes, quickly upgraded us to a larger, even more luxorious one. That immaculately clean room, and I suspect all others, was beautifully decorated and the king-sized bed extremely comfortable. An oversized television provided in-room entertainment. There were also any number of "extras:" a large indoor swimming pool, a workout room, a helpful business center, an extra-large and quite pleasing breakfast area. Of course, the size of the room is of little concern if the food served there is minimal but that was not the case at the LaQuinta. The breakfast, which included a number of hot items was both excellent and extremely filling as we prepared to head off for another long day of driving.

If there is any "negative" to cite about this inn, it would have to be that it is far--though in Fort Colins that is a relative term--from downtown, most restaurants, or even the campus of Colorado State University. Considering the ultra-reasonable room rates, however, anyone wanting to access those sites would be foolish not to drive the extra several miles, making this their base of operations.

Nothing irriatates me more than front-desk staff who act as if they could care less about serving their customers. This clearly is not the case at the LaQuinta in Fort Collins. I suppose that I have been in other motels/hotels where we have been treated as well as we were here but none where we have been valued any better and that includes any number where we've paid two or even three times as much for a night's stay. It seems clear that the ownership of this motel truly wants customers and it goes out of its way to do whatever it can to please them when they are guests.

The LaQuinta is simply a hidden treasure as it were. No one needing to stay anywhere in the area--indeed, anyone wanting to shop at the large Outlet mall in Loveland just a few miles down the road where motels are often $20 to $50 more a night--ought to consider any other venue.

The wife and I are big fans of Laquinta's as we travel with our pet and they usually accept,we have never had one to dissapoint and this one did not either. When looking to make reservations on trips LQ is the 1st thing we look for. Excellent motel, great room, comfortable beds, very clean, excellent morning breakfast (one morning scrambled eggs and sausage drew their top billing, the other morning biscuits and gravy and both mornings fresh fruit and waffles), very friendly, great stop.

We stayed here during Cheyenne Frontier Days. The beds were amazingly comfortable with lots of pillows, a fridge and microwave as well as internet service. There were 2 pools, both inside and outside, a hot tub and a wonderful continental breakfast. The service was wonderful. We called twicfe about a problem with our phone and they came immediately and solved the problem. Manager was always around and very helpful and friendly.

This is my 2nd stay at this hotel, it was great both times. No pet charge, $75.00 hold on card until the room is checked out though. Nice lcd tv, swimming pools and hot tub are great. Staff allowed early check-in and late check-out both times with no charge. Comfy beds.

Our family spent 3 nights there while visiting the college and surrounding town/area. We travel with a dog and usually stay at La Quinta Hotels since they take pets. We were most pleased with this hotel. Breakfast included sausage and eggs, which are often hard to find. Flat screen TV was very nice. We always like the room set up with 2 queen beds and a separate sink area in the bathroom area, both of which are also hard to find. Very nice service and would highly recommend this hotel. Business center, weight room, hot tub, indoor poor, outdoor pool, daily newspaper up front for the early birds. What else could you want?
