“Old School”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

This property is right across the street from the CSU campus, so it is very convenient from that standpoint. That being said, it is also quite old and somewhat worn. Furniture is tired and the bathroom was very small. Another major annoyance was the speed of the wireless internet connection - lots of waiting for pages to load. I stay approximately 100 nights per year in hotels and I find newer properties to be preferable. Ft. Collins has a number of newer properties that fit the bill but they are much further from the CSU campus/Old Town.

On a significantly positive not, the staff/service at the Hilton was excellent.

This hotel was re-vamped from an old Holiday Inn, so they are working with a structure that is a bit old and was originally designed for a different clientele. That said, the remodel is good, and the center atrium is nice and adds a very spacious feel. The staff was very friendly, if a bit young and inexperienced. Great views from the higher rooms, since this is one of the tallest buildings in all of Fort Collins, at 9 stories. Room was a little less than sparkling clean, but certainly passable. Wi-Fi costs $10 to access unless you are a Hilton Honors member - and its a bit slow, so don't bother - the 4G Verizon coverage here is fantastic if you have your own hot-spot. Essential for business traveller, IMHO. Don't bother with the $4 gouge for bottled water in the rooms-Fort Collins water quality is the best in the world. Nice and quiet and great beds/pillows. All in all a good value - I'd stay here again

Room Tip: The west side (higher-up the better) has great mountain views, the east side rooms gives you a great...

I spent one evening with the Hilton in Ft Collins, CO for my birthday with my sister. We had a package deal, including an executive suite, and pass to the executive lounge. The room was beautiful, but the lounge was fantastic. Included in the price, was appetizers for two, and breakfast the following morning. The appetizers also included wine and beer, and enough food for an entire meal. The same was true of the breakfast. Everything was perfect, and beautiful.

Room Tip: Get the executive package.

This is a nine-story hotel with a large atrium. The rooms are are all off the atrium balcony. We stayed on the top floor with access to the club lounge. The room was fine, nothing special, but clean. The club lounge had decent evening appetizers but a rather poor breakfast. The location is very convenient to CSU. Ask for a room with a mountain view. The view east is of a railroad track and industrial area.

There is a certain service level expectation at Hilton hotels, and this property continues that level of service without much problem. That being said, there were a few issues that continue to astound me. For having such a high-brow brand, I find it ridiculous that Hilton charges for their WiFi access, unless you are a high level HHonors member (which I am). Further more, their WiFi is slow and spotty, at best. It's also sad to see $4 bottles of water in each room. Apparently, if you can afford their room rates, you won't might being gouged for water and WiFi... Amenities that practically any decent chain offers free. Inflated prices are unfortunately expected, and this location is no exception. The bar layout was a little small (especially the bar itself). I had the French onion soup, which was passable. I also ordered the a dessert, which was a trainwreck of filo pastery sheets and fruits. It was singularly the most awkward dessert I've ever tried eating. The taste was fine, the execution was not thought out. It would be amusing to see other guests attempt to eat this dessert. No complaints regarding my room, a well appointed king room with a view of the mountains. I enjoy staying at Hilton properties, in general, but the nickel-and-diming of your guests gets old. ($16 + 19% gratuity + $3 for a basic room service breakfast for 1, as another example)

I stayed overnight after my cousin's reception in the hotel. It was a beautiful room and pretty fairly priced. Only complaint I had was that the maid knocked on our door like four times after we told her to go away. Don't they clean the rooms after check out? Mildly annoying but otherwise a good stay. I would recommend it for the close proximity to downtown, which was beautiful that time of year. Perfect weather.

I stayed here for just one night in October 2012 - standard room, comfortable bed, spacious bathroom. Really nice soaps in the bathroom. Very close to CSU, so very convenient location. There was nothing "overly great" about it, so I'd recommend it!
