We have stayed in this hotel at least 15 times. The pros are: location, location, location. It's right downtown and it is the only hotel that is. The staff is decent - they take good care of their guests. Their is a nearby athletic club that is very nice that you have access to. The rooms are eccentric, which we like. Every room is different. It's very homey with a resident cat. Oh, and they have a coffee shop and good restaurant downstairs - not part of the hotel, but very handy. Cons: Some rooms don't have much natural light and the parking isn't great - although we have never failed to find a spot. The hotel is not everyone's cup of tea, but if you prefer chains, the Hilton is handy to downtown (but not smack in the middle of it).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with good natural light.

Lovely restored old school hotel. Stayed here for an anniversary weekend. This is not a 5 Star resort and they do not proclaim to be. What it is is a piece of American history. Rooms were large, clean, had free WiFi, Flat screen TV, decent bathroom size with large tiled shower with 2 shower heads on either side of the shower. The building is located in the heart of Old Town Ft Collins. We walked all over the downtown area. Felt safe and secure. Some great restaurants less than 5 minutes walking too!

Also, parking at the hotel is free.

Room Tip: There is a train that goes through the entire town, it can be loud (reminds me of the movie, My Cous...

My wife and i just returned from a three night stay at the Armstrong Hotel located in the heart of historic Old Town Fort Collins. Our room was nicely furnished and had a very comfortable bed. We had an interior room (ample light through window from light well) that was generally quiet, although the train did wake me the first night. The staff was friendly and helpful and the location couldn't be beat. We definitely will be back.

Room Tip: I think I would go for an interior room for the quiet; however, with the air conditioner on, the whi...

The hotel is nicely renovated and has kept a lot of nice vintage features. Our room was clean and comfortable. The location is great - in the middle of Old Town and an easy short walk to restaurants and bars, as well as a coffee shop and bar in the same building. Only two drawbacks - the train horns coming through the center of town and the wood floors in the bedrooms which are loud when the neighbors walk around with shoes on.

The Armstrong is in the center of old town Fort Collins and has been totally renovated, but some things remain the same: one cranky elevator and noisy radiators in the room. Nevertheless, the modern honeymoon suite has a big beautiful bed and wonderful soaking tub: A+ there. The room should have been super quiet because it faces a lightwell, but I could hear noise from the hallway and didn't like the fact that I couldn't keep the drapes open. On the plus side again, nice color combos, beautiful modern four-poster king bed, good bath products and linens. Also, very clean.

Room Tip: If you want more light, book a room over Olive Street.

If you are young or young at heart and want to experience Fort Collins’ Old Town area, this might be the place to stay for you. First the good: it is located in the middle of Old Town and walking and cycling distance to most every bar and restaurant. I found my room clean and comfortable. The restaurant downstairs was good. Now the bad: noise, noise and more noise. The freight trains come almost through your room about 4 am and blow their horns frequently. The walls and doors are thin and you hear every conversation and hallway noise. The hotel has radiator heating and the pipes will bang. Visit the ACE hardware store next door and buy some hearing protection after you check in. The television channels are limited and some don’t have audio. There is no central A/C but portable dehumidifying units in the rooms, so beware in the summer time. No business center, just the front desk printer. Staff is friendly, but there is no valet or other staff on site. Parking is marginal with overflow a block away. Last but not least, the elevator did not work during my stay. But if you want to experience an old remodeled hotel, this is place for you. There are much better lodging options that are close to Old Town and even better further south. I don’t see why this hotel gets the high ratings for the value you receive.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the interior or the rear for less noise.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming hotel. Our first night we stayed in a vintage room. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. There was a frige and microwave, a bar and a beauiful claw foot tub. Our second night we stayed in a modern room. The room was equally as nice with similar amenities. The staff was very accomodating and the location is perfect, right in the heart of Old Town Fort Collins. Our stay included the use of a local gym a few blocks away. We really enjoyed the music at the jazz club located directly below the hotel. We can't wait to go back!
