The Poudre is great if you just want to take a scenic drive or if extreme adventure is more your flavor. And it is worth a visit any time of the year. Sure it can be a bit cold in the winter but you wont have to fight the traffic or the crowds.

Please leave it better than you find it. :)

Great Colorado river. The Canyon west of Fort Collins is a great drive. Lots of fishing spots along the way. Its fun to see the rafts and kayaks in the late spring and summer. Drive all the way up to Cameron pass for good hiking. Take the turn down to Long Draw Reservoir and access to the North side of Rocky Mountain National Park and good hiking trails, or continue your drive west into North Park. Great fall colors along this drive

Everything about this area is just beautiful! Grab a lunch from town and sit by the river and enjoy the sounds of nature!

Great fishing all up and down this river, but better the further up you go. Some especially nice runs and riffles you can access from the Poudre River Fish Hatchery - which is fun to take the kids to to feed the fingerlings. Great views and clean water, its the Rocky Mountain experience at its best!

Water has been a bit murky since the fire that swept through the area in the summer of 2012. But, still nice trails along the river, perfectly safe and easy to hike, bike, run.
