Cafe Vino may be one of the best tapas places in town. Went there last night prior to a great performance by the Colorado State University Symphony Orchestra and combined concert choirs so we had to not dawdle over a big meal. We ordered just four small plates viz. a mushroom pate with locally grown Hazel Dell crimini mushrooms, macadamia nuts, cream cheese and truffled crostini; Italian meatballs in a marinara sauce, parmigiano, basil, crusty bread; gorgonzola pear ravioli with caramelized bartlett pear, gorgonzola, brown butter, toasted pistachio, port wine reduction; and, Chef's Risotto with prosciutto de Parma, peas, parmigiano reggiano, preserved lemon (these descriptions are taken from their menu). Each dish was top-notch in quality of ingredients, perfect execution in preparation, and plated beautifully! We need to return to try the other small plates which sounded just as interesting as the ones we chose! The plates may have been labeled small but the four we had were more than enough for us. Service was prompt and professional as well as having just the right touch of friendliness without being phony friendly. Only negative was that it was pretty noisy- perhaps due to FAC-ing people. A real winner of a restaurant!
