A fascinating glimpse into life 100 years ago. Definitely worth a stop and visit to see how life was. Very well preserved and informative. Spend 10 minutes watching the video in the museum it is certainly worth it and helps put perspective around life back then.

Better than the Denver History Museum! While the Denver museum is good, its expansive and many times has a hygienic atmosphere, whereas the South Park City Museum has many more historic articles and artifacts in one little cottage than the entire Denver Museum. This is a great stop if your going through the mountains and well worth it as it gives you an entire small town chocked full of history to enjoy, take pictures and feel connected to a time long gone.

Fascinating museum, with great exhibits and glimpses into Colorado's roots. We have a place in Fairplay and yet still visit the museum every year. It never gets old. If you happen to be in Fairplay during Burro Days it is a great time to pay for a visit to the museum because the Llamas and Burro racers come right down the middle of the museum - great experience, especially for kiddos.

This museum is awesome! If you are into the history of mining and mountain towns it is definitely a place to visit. The open air museum is set up just like an old town. Each building is set up with all the tools, furniture, linens, machines and things that would have been there in the mid 1800's, just as if people lived there. There is a doctor's office, a dentist, blacksmith, mining cabin, stables, a train station with a steam engine, a school house, saloon, brewery.... and many more. Plan on spending a few hours walking around. It is amazing to see all the things that people used to use back then! Your entrance fee is for all day, so you can take a lunch break and return later in the day.

I have heard great things about "Living History Days" there, but haven't been yet. People dress in 1800's garb and play the part of people living in the town. I plan on going next summer.
