“SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

I just can't say enough about the amazing experience we had at the Highland Haven.
Everything about the inn is truly exceptional. The rooms are all beautiful and well equipped. The setting is perfect, the breakfast was to die for. But the best part of the Highland Haven is the staff. Blake and Roxy, who run the inn, are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They made our daughter’s wedding weekend SO special. The whole staff went above and beyond!! If you are looking for the best spot to stay in Evergreen, this is it!!!!

Book this way in advance. Lovely location, staff, and amenities. We just booked a bit late and got a mini-suite (two bedroom with with double beds)... Ugh! Otherwise we enjoyed the great breakfast and outstanding service.

We stayed here on our wedding night almost a year ago and loved the place! We stayed in the Hillside Cottage 2. It was perfect, secluded, romantic, and comfortable. The breakfast the next morning was delicious! We will be going back here for sure!!! There are many different types of rooms available for many different budgets.

My wife and I wanted to escape the Denver area for a quick get-away, and found this B&B in Evergreen that looked great online. The pictures looked great - rustic but well kept and nicely updated. The surrounding grounds looked beautiful and the creek running by was very appealing, so we booked a night in one of the deluxe guest rooms. We arrived on Memorial Day quite early since it was only a short drive and decided to see if we could check in early. We were greeted by Blake, Roxy and Jenna. Right from the start, we felt almost like family! They were all so very nice, and we checked in way ahead of the normal late afternoon check-ins at other places. The first thing we noticed about our room was how spotlessly clean it was!

We began to relax and wander around some, and truly enjoyed learning some of the history of the original cabin. We sat by the creek in adirondack chairs, the sounds of the creek relaxing us even more than the cocktails we were enjoying. A little later in the afternoon, we met Suchada and Michael in the office. Suchada explained that there was a problem with the water heater in our room, and graciously offered to upgrade us to another room. Well, upgrade was almost an understatement! She took us to the Fireside Loft which is almost a house in itself. Beautiful, large living room, full kitchen and the most comfortable bed we had slept in for a long time. Outside the door was a private patio area with a hot tub. We felt like we had just won the B&B lottery with this room! Obviously, we anxiously moved our belongings from our original room (which was very nice and we would have been quite content there) to the loft.

We only had a few things and it was very easy to move. Suchada apologized for the inconvenience of having to move, but no apology was necessary! Not only did they make certain we had a wonderful room to stay in, they were so humble and gracious about it! That kind of attitude and caring is just not common at all, we were very impressed to say the least!

The next morning, Suchada had a delicious breakfast prepared. A vegetable egg strata, chocolate filled pastries, fresh fruit, potatos...and more. It was served buffet style, and yes I made multiple trips back until I almost had to be rolled out.

If you find yourself in the Denver metro area and are looking for a warm, relaxing wonderful B&B, you would be very hard pressed to find one as special as this one. 30 minutes away from Denver, and in a world all by itself.

Room Tip: While we only saw two rooms, I firmly believe you cannot go wrong in any of them!

Dear Randy,
We remember you and your beautiful wife so well! You walked in with huge smiles on your face and made our day! That was a very stressful situation with the boiler problems and you two couldn't haven been more understanding. We are so glad you got to stay in the Fireside Loft , good things should happen to good people. Suchada, Jenna, Blake and I all read your kind review and we couldn't have been more "ahhh shucks" grateful.
We cannot thank you enough for taking the time to do something so nice for us. We will surely remember you and look forward to having you back.
Thank you very much, happy summer,
Roxy

I stayed her with my daughter whom I was visiting with. I was looking for something that had two beds in Evergreen area and came across this place. Not only did it have two beds but two bedrooms. Perfect. Very friendly staff, great breakfast in the morning and the place was quite and peaceful, clean and just beautiful. Don't miss out if you are in the area.

I travel for business to Denver and every once in a while have to stop by for visits at Evergreen. I typically stay in the Golden area and then drive up for meetings to Evergreen but I decided to stay at Highland Haven because of a snowstorm.....and what a find! This place is beautiful, very close by (walking distance) to restaurants, bars, the lake, hiking trails, etc... The hotel staff is very friendly, great breakfast, and they even cleaned the snow off my car in the morning.
Looking forward to coming back with my wife on a personal visit and spend a weekend at Highalnd Haven.

We would love to have you and your wife back here and if you come for business by yourself we have a business rate, we can always apply. Sure, the price is higher than the average B&B, but you certainly get your money's worth. We booked a deluxe room for our 9-yr. anniversary and were upgraded to a hillside suite prior to arrival (possibly due to it being in the off-season and that we stayed for 9 days!). Great location next to a creek and roads that lead to more towns as well as great get-out-there hiking and scenic drives. So much to do right there in Evergreen alone. (oh, and letterboxers, you've got some great finds in the area!).

The suite had two bedrooms, one queen, one king; both wonderfully comfortable. The main room had a gas fireplace, nice furnishings, a kitchenette, and a small desk area. There was also a flat screen tv, but we only used that to check the weather for our daily hiking outings (oh, and the danged blizzard that forced us to leave a day early). Completely cozy, it felt as if the rooms wrapped around us. Even though the suite was next to a small road going up to the residences on the mountain, it was still quiet and peaceful. The suite is one of two in the same building, but in the 9 days we were there, we never heard the guests in the next suite, and that included two children the last two days we were there.

Breakfast was buffet style and didn't lack for options. Every morning was something hot (egg strata's & casseroles, potatoes, sausages) and something cold (yogurt, cereals, fresh & sweet fruit) as well as 'dessert' (omg, the chocolate croissants!). The waffles on the weekend... yay! As we stayed for nine days, the staff was very conscious and asked if we would like something different or special. How many places can you think of that would take your stay in to consideration like that?

Now, to the staff... FABULOUS! We've stayed in many a b&b as well as inns and hotels across the country and overseas. This is simply the BEST staff you could ever ask for. The owners are very involved in the day-to-day running of the inn, the staff they've hired are welcoming, friendly, out-going, sweet, kind, and ready to assist you in any way and provided great suggestions for our days out. Heck, the entire town seems that way! Of course, how can you not be friendly and happy in a place like Evergreen and the Front Range? I cannot begin to stress how much we enjoyed the folks at this Inn. There is one other staff member, a lovable dog named 'Rowley' that greeted us daily at breakfast; the big, sweet, mooch :)

We hope to one day move to the area (not only an anniversary trip, but a move/scouting trip) and will certainly stay there again whether we live in the region or not. This place is special. Whether a romantic getaway, long weekend, or full vacation, you won't be disappointed.

We printed this out and shared it with all of the staff, Gail the owner was just beside herself with the kindness of your letter. Trip Advisor is very influential for small business as it really gives people an inside to what can be expected if they choose to stay with us. It also keeps us on our feet we want all our guests to get the feelings you guys did!

To take the time and say such sincere comments is the nicest, biggest thing you can do for us. Gail and Tom the owners work everyday and have for 33 years to try and get across everything you mentioned in your review. They have trained all of us to pass on their kindness and love for this business. We want to make sure people who stay here for a long time and feel comfortable in their room and enjoy every breakfast, so we always try to put ourselves in your shoes.
We so love our Rowley girl and spoil her in her old age, thank you for giving her love. We hope to see you both again. We remember you girls, it was so nice to get to know you.
