Every once in a while you step into a space that puts a smile on your face and the food comes close to doing the same? Just a little attention to detail would put this quaint local eatery over the top.

Located behind the Safeway at Arapahoe and Quebec in Centenial, this small bistro Pesce Fresco delivers a big bistro gastronomic effort to please their diners who become their friends for a few short hours. The bar/open patio layout is unique and inviting. The dining room is comfortable and seats a surprisingly sizable eclectic group of diners.

We started our journey with a 50% off coupon for any bottle of wine under $100. Found a lovely Jordan '08 Cab that netted us 50 smackers ,less than the retail price! The mussels were tangy but a little too lemony for most at the table. The Gorgonzola cheesecake appie which is our personal fav was a little overcooked and became mealy but typically reaches "to die for" status with its carmelized balsamic onions. Caesar salads were good and of course would not be a CS without anchovies which were available.

Main courses of Zuppa di Pesce ($21) was filled with ample fresh shrimp, fish, and mussels. It too was a bit too tangy with lemon so I had them add some parmigiana . The pan roasted trout which was so good that I was offered not a taste. The pan seared scallops were well prepared, tasted great and were nicely presented. The fresh fish of the day was also nicely done.

We passed on dessert. Overall a nice dining experience but could have been much better had a little bit more attention to detail from the kitchen been paid. There are few restaurants this size, this potential quality, and this price point around especially in the burbs. It's worth a try even with a few flaws. P.S. The reasonable portion sizes are commendable, keeps prices reasonable, and makes for healthier dining. Bravo Pesce Fresco.

Does Pesce Fresco offer the best, most creative dining experience in Denver? Probably not but what it does offer is a consistently excellent experience in a surprising location. It is tucked away in a small strip mall but once inside you'll forget all about that. We have been here four times within the past year and have always been pleased by the quality of the food, the choices available and the excellent service. It is a pleasure to support a family run business that offers such dependable quality.

We went to Pesce Fresco last Saturday with a group of friends and we really enjoyed the restaurant and the atmosphere. They have a nice bar area that opens up to outside and they had live music on Saturday night.

There were 8 of us and we sat in the main dining room. I believe everyone in our group enjoyed their food and the service was good, minus a few glitches but nothing serious (received wrong salad but our waitress took care of it).

I enjoyed my scallops saltimboca but the dish only had 3 scallops for $24 it seems a bit steep for what I got. They were served over pasta and some veggies. (I would have expected at least twice that many scallops for that price...)I would not order it again.

Other that the portions being on the small size and a bit pricey - the food, ambiance and service were all great.

It is a nice place for special occasions. Our dinner was over $100 with tips for 2 (one appetizer we shared, two glasses of wine, 2 entrees and one dessert we shared and 2 decaf coffees) which is a bit expensive.

It is located inside a strip mall and we did not have any issues with parking ( we were early - reservations at 6:00 pm for 8) but I imagine that it could be an issue if the place gets busy.

Having dined here many times, our recent visit was not up to the quality we have come to expect from this restaurant. Appetizers and the salad course were average at best. The entrees were very good but the portions were small. I believe they are trying to lower costs to compete and the result is less on the plate. There are better places in the vicinity and we'll try those first before returning to Pesce Fresco.

I have heard about this restaurant for years, but never got to go. Went for lunch for the first time and really enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. So we made reservations for New Years Eve for a group of fiends. We're not disappointed. Definitely a price performer for this special night. One of the specials was a whole lobster for $29 and it was delicious! They also had a one man band in the bar area for background music. I hear their happy hour is good, especially in the summer when they have a patio. Can't wait for weather to warm up to try it.
