“Small and Large hikes with a nice backdrop”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

You can hike as much on the trail as you like or take the bigger trails for a longer experience. Much of the first part of the trails will get you the best views of the canyon and rock climbers, but the other parts of the trail is more open or around the side of the canyon and into more brush like areas. The cost is average for a state park fee for access. Parking is limited so you may have to walk a bit more depending on the trail you wish to hike. Many spots for a great hang out or just to relax near the stream with smaller water falls. Make sure you have some cool water to hike with if you are hiking the larger trails.

“A taste of the Rocky Mountains just a short drive from Denver”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

If you don't have time to explore Rocky Mountain National Park, try Eldorado Canyon State Park. To the locals this is the foothills, but it is rugged and beautiful. The road into the park is not well marked and the parking is limited, but it is worth it once you get there. A stream runs through the canyon. Along the stream are the steep rock formations for climbers. Hiking trails range from easy to difficult. A great place to spend a few hours enjoying nature.

“Please be very careful on hot days!”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

This park is absolutely beautiful, but can be dangerous! I am an experienced hiker, but nothing I had read prepared me for the Eldorado Canyon Trl/Walker Ranch Loop. All together, it is a 14 mile trail. What I was not aware of is that about 70% of the trail is completely exposed, which offers great views, but absolutely no protection from the sun. A challenging day out hiking quickly became terrifying, as I began to suffer from heat stroke around mile 9. In no way am I trying to denture anyone from taking this amazing hike, I just want people to know about the trails exposure to the elements. Plenty of water, and even water purification tablets are highly recommended. Watch the temperature! If you have your furry, four legged babies with you, be aware that leash laws are strict. This is due to wild life, and to the fact that there have been instances of dogs being swept down river. At the entrance, they greatly appreciate exact change. They always need $1s due to the fact that entrance is $8 per car, so everyone gives them $10s. Have a great and safe visit!

“Fun trip if you like to hike.”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Like all state parks in Colorado, you have to pay to get in. It was $7.00 a car. A great place to hike and watch the rock climbers and enjoy the scenery.
