After having a very disappointing experience in December, I decided to give Vista one more try. We went on a Friday night during President's weekend. It was quite crowded (in a good way-lots of energy). The atmosphere was again perfect--the pianist (mickey) was on a roll and we are all singing to Mickey's excellent song selections. The atmosphere at Vista is always an A+. Compared to our previous visits, the food was about the same: inconsistent--one of our dishes was incredible, another was mediocre. Overall though, the food was a B+.
While expensive, the prices were about right, compared to similar restaurants in Vail Valley. I felt like we got what we paid for. The huge disappointment remains the service. Once again, it was incredibly slow, and not well organized. The Servers are nice, and apologetic, but do not appear to be well trained, if at all. But the problem seems to be more of a management issue--for such a nice restaurant to have such a consistently difficult time serving its customers, someone is asleep at the wheel.
I would really like to give Vista a Very Good or Excellent review, but until the service improves, and the food is a bit more consistent, I would rate it as average.
