“"Way Too Hard"”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

If you like to beat yourself up, play this course. The views are nice, and course in great shape. Just way too hard for a fun day of golf.

“Summit is open - Find a way to play”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

The Club at Cordillera has re-opened the Summit Golf Course. You can arrange to play if you know a member or stay in certain hotels. The most convenient hotel is the Lodge at Cordillera. They can assist you in getting a tee time. Guest fee to play is less than $200, which is lower than the guest fee at Red Sky ($250). The Summit course is in remarkably good condition considering it was not open in 2012. On the course, we saw a lot of deer and one fox. The course is very difficult. I suggest playing a shorter tee than you would normally expect to play. Be careful of the two tier greens and the speedy down-mountain putts. The course is at a very high elevation (approx. 10,000 feet) and is a very unique golfing experience. The staff treat visitors very nicely and were helpful. After your round, the grill and bar are nice too.

“Golf Course is closed but walk is nice!”
Reviewed June 21, 2012

Because of the ongoing dispute in Cordillera, the Summit course is not open this summer (2012). However, if you live in Cordillera or stay at the Lodge, you have access to many trails within Cordillera. For those folks who would rather walk on paved paths, consider walking the Summit Course cart trails. It is a supreme workout. We hike a lot and it took us 2 hours to walk all 18 holes. The path goes up and down a lot and the views are great. We saw many deer and a coyote. When playing the course in prior years, I have seen foxes and a variety of birds and woodpeckers. One advantage of the course being closed ---- no golfers to avoid. I would suggest parking at the clubhouse and walking the course backwards (starting up the 18th hole fairway). However, hole #9 does not come back to the clubhouse. The halfway house at #9 green is very far from the clubhouse. So --- if you don't want the 2 hour hike, you will need to take some shortcuts off of the cartpath. If and when this course re-opens, be sure to play it. For now, the hike is very nice!
