We chose this motel because of the Tempurpedic bed. It was as advertised and we slept very well. The room was also spacious and clean. That was the "good". The staff was not very helpful...no information provided about breakfast, hot tub, amenities, etc.. They were efficient but not much more. The one open outlet we could find in our room was so worn that it would not hold a plug. We had to plug cell phones at the bathroom sink. Not the worst thing I guess. My suggestion would be to at least add a lamp with outlets or replace the ones in the wall so people can plug in their electronics. (Who doesn't have electronics these days?). It was a little noisy from road traffic which, of course, is not the fault of the motel. Since I always travel with ear plugs, this was not an issue for us. But our room was as far off the road as any room in the motel and the noise was still noticeable. That was the "bad" (and it wasn't that bad). There was not much to the breakfast...pretty much the basic fare of cereal, bread/danish/bagels, yogurt and fruit. However, this is where the "ugly" comes in. The bowl of oranges must just get placed out every day. My wife picked one up and it was rotten on the bottom. In fact, several of them were bad. This made me wonder a little bit about the freshness of the rest of the choices. However, I WOULD stay in this motel again if we are in the area as the good nights sleep was worth it. I would just choose to go somewhere else for breakfast. With that exception, the hotel was a pretty good value. After all, the most important thing when traveling is a good nights sleep which we were able to get.

Room Tip: Not sure if you can block the noise of the traffic without ear plugs. Perhaps it would be less nois...

Hello and thank you for your stay with us. We know the goal of staying at a hotel is a good nights sleep and we are glad that we were able to get you that. We are sorry about the noise from the road. As we are sure you saw that most all hotels in Durango are right off of the main road, although it can be noisy, it is where most visitors want to be. We are preparing to do some remodeling in the near future to accommodate the issues you brought up. We hope to see you again soon. Thank you

I was just looking for a place for a one night stay on a road trip and opted for low cost. This hotel surprised me with many little touches that made this a place I would opt for in the event of a multi-night stay. Breakfast was pretty standard (juices, coffee, cereal, pastries, yogurt, and make your own waffles). Room was large (2 queen beds with tempurpedic mattresses) and had TWO chairs to sit on (not just one!). Small fridge and microwave. There was a second sink that was separate from the bathroom itself. The temp adjustment was a bit unusual. Unfortunately, even with the baseboard heat turned off and the A/C unit plus the wall thermostat both set to a cold temp, the room remained pretty warm (about 73-74 degrees) in spite of it being April with daytime temps only in the 60s. The room was clean with one nasty exception - the toilet. When one put the lid down, the space between the seat and the tank was pretty nasty. The toilet was the only real negative. Desk staff is friendly and helpful. It is not within easy walking distance of downtown, but you're also nowhere near the train! And the 3rd oldest microbrewery in Colorado is right next door (good brew, good food).

The carpet was pretty nasty, but the beds and pillows were great, the wifi was great, the two sinks were great. The maid, whom I tipped $3 a day, didn't rinse out the coffee pot. The shower was hot and cold and unpredictable. Overall, for the price, it was fantastic.
