“Great Bed, Lots of Road Noise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2012

The staff was very friendly, and their service was very quick. I arrived two hours early, and was still allowed to check-in, which was really helpful.
The location was easy to find, the downside of this was there was quite a bit of road noise. We're from a small town, so this was a little hard to deal with.

Being on a busy street does have its downfall. We hope the noise wasn't too inconvenient. It does get very quiet around 9pm so we really don't have the problem at night. We hope you will come back whenever you visit Durango again.

Overall the stay was very nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed, very comfortable. There was an issue where the door made some noise when the wind blew hard, but that did not occur too often. Shower temperature would fluctuate a lot. Breakfast was good, I love hot waffles.

We stayed during the annual motorcycle rally (we rode in from Texas for the rally). They were biker friendly, placed bike cleaning rags out for those that wanted to wipe off the road grime. They have a pool, hot tub and sauna. The hot tub and sauna are below the motel so no view there. The rooms were nice (although the building is older they were well kept), they have Tempurpedic mattresses which were very comfortable. Linens were nice. They have a small breakfast in the AM. There is a brewery tap room next door which was nice to stop in for a quick bite to eat and a beer. Convenient location (in town) and there is a trolley stop nearby which runs down to historic downtown.

Upon getting to the room, I was really pretty pleased. It was a large room with a flat screen TV, refrigerator, small microwave, coffee pot, hair dryer and I especially liked the Tempur-Pedic mattress. The décor was a little dated, but not bad.

However, the sleeping the first night was very bad. The air conditioning unit was extremely loud and was constantly cycling on and off about every 5 minutes. The next morning I asked for a different room for the second night, but they said the rooms were all the same so there was no reason to switch.

After studying the situation, I was able to pretty much resolve the problem for the second night. The problem was that the thermostat was located about 5 feet from the air conditioner, so when it came on, it was blowing directly onto the thermostat, causing it to cycle back and forth. What I did was switch the AC fan to low, direct the air away from the thermostat, and then set the thermostat as low as it would go. This let the unit run constantly the whole night, and being on low, didn't get too cool in the room.

So with this information in hand, I can recommend the motel.

This is the second summer that we have stayed here and it certainly suits our needs. The rooms could use some updating and the A/C is very loud but overall comfortable. The breakfast area is very small and the selection is not great. The staff has always been courteous and helpful.

Our first room was perfect, had a separate bedroom for my father-in-law, but the sinks were backed up so we had to move. Second room was good, just a bit tight for the 5 of us. The beds were comfortable, the a/c worked good, however their Internet access is horrible. Even at 5 am in the morning it was difficult to get good Internet access with good speed. The staff was great, just need better Internet speeds.

The best about this Hotel was the comfortable bed. Outdated but the room was clean. AC Unit was loud. It was good to have a room on the lower level towards the back, the Street side is noisy. Skipped breakfast there, breakfast area is tiny and the choices were slim.

Room Tip: Ask for a room to the back, away from Main Street.
