This is a very clean modern motel. Nice breakfast in the lobby. Pleasant indoor pool with jacuzzi. Professional and helpful staff. A bit on the pricey side, in line with higher Durango price structure.

Staff was friendly and the beds were comfortable. The indoor pool was great. The hotel was located at the far end of the tourist area, but was still close enough to everything. The 1 BR suite had plenty of space for 2 adults and a child.

This Hampton advertises on its sign as the best rooms in Durango. I'm not sure about that, but they were certainly up to expectations. The hotel has undergone recent renovations. They were done well, although I might have chosen lighter and brighter colors. Our room was certainly adequate and had all the comforts you would expect at a Hampton. The layout is a bit funky with the breakfast area split by the front entry and the elevator somewhat hidden. However, it all works in the scheme of things.

Here's what really works, Durango offers a free street trolley service to and from downtown that makes a dedicated stop adjacent to the hotel in both directions. The trolleys run on 20-minute headways and are an excellent way to get into downtown. We left our car parked at the hotel and took full advantage of the trolley. Downtown Durango can be rather crowded, and the hotel is a few miles away. You are connected to all the benefits of durango without the traffic and parking hassles.

I recently traveled to Durango for a high-school boy's basketball tournament at Fort Lewis College. The Hampton Inn provided a very nice place to sleep and relax after the games. The hotel has been recently renovated, so the lobby and the rooms are all fresh and updated. Yes, the rooms are a little bit on the small side, but the stellar customer service at the front desk and the cleanliness in the hotel more than make up for the room size.

Two notable mentions about the doors to the rooms that are a huge deal for me when staying at a hotel; There is no banging of your or others doors. The doors are spring-loaded so they do no slam so there is no annoying banging in the hallway all night long. There is also a strip on the bottom of the door that helps to seal out light and sound during the night.

The rooms are provided with the typical lotion, shampoo, conditioner and soap. There is plenty of closet space and drawer space. There is a hot breakfast every morning that they mix up daily, providing biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, home fries, fruit, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, waffles, juice, breads, and coffee. It is great for high school boys :).

The biggest negative about the Hampton Inn is the location. It is quite a ways from downtown Durango or Fort Lewis Collage, but it really isn't a huge deal unless you want to walk to restaurants or stores. The hotel is also a little on the pricey side, but so is everything else in Durango. I would not hesitate to stay here for future trips.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the top floor to avoid listening to others stomp around.

Quality and cleanliness of room and hotel very good. Too expensive, but so is everything in Durango. Pull-out bed uncomfortable, but OK for young child. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast OK. Breakfast staff rude. Closed the door on me when I put down toast to cook and went to put my drink at the table where my family was sitting.

My family stayed for three nights at the beginning of June. AC unit failed on one of the hottest day ever recorded in Durango, 95+. Staff's response to our concerns about the AC unit was to blame us for over using the system. They told us to turn it off for several hours and deal with the heat. The room was so tiny that a portable unit or fan could have cooled it off in 10 minutes... no other rooms available and no additional remedies suggested. Quality customer service….

Finally, of the course the stay my son noticed bug bites on his legs, arms and head. We thought it was just from us for hiking and walking around Durango and no one else had bites, until the last day when I started to see bites show up on me. My son and I are the ones that slept in the bed by the window and stayed on that side of the room. We were the only ones bit. Not cool, probably bed bugs.

Never again will we stay in a Hampton Inn and you are warned.

Room Tip: Don't choose this hotel.

It will go without saying that all hotels take the report of bed bugs extremely seriously. We are surprised that neither you, nor anyone else has reported this discovery to the front desk staff. Since your review we have requested that our pest control company come for an inspection immediately. They inspect our property once a month. Also surprising about your bed bug accusation is that the mattresses were replaced during our recent remodel and the beds were inspected during our spring cleaning and thoroughly gone over while rotating and flipping the mattresses. It is with regret that you did not notify us immediately so that we could have started the investigation process sooner.

It is very clear that your stay with us did not meet your expectations and for this we are very sorry. It is our hope that all our guests have the best experience possible and thoroughly enjoys their stay with us. As much as we try to keep everything working and in excellent condition, sometimes things break down and need to be repaired or replaced. Depending on the day of the week or the time of the day a report is made can greatly influence how quickly the repair can be made. We regret that your air conditioner was not fixed quickly and the staff did not seem empathetic to your discomfort. If the hotel was full we would not have had the ability to switch you to another room. We will of course address this issue and make it a goal that no other guests are inconvenienced by a similar situation
