Our experience here was nothing out of the ordinary. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and safe. Our room was what we would expect from a Hampton Inn~no surprises, really, good or bad. However, the best thing was the extremely comfortable bed and the worst thing was the room rate (a bit overpriced for what you get). The free breakfast was fine and the staff was pleasant enough. The location is a bit removed from the downtown area, so walking to the "touristy" part of Durango really isn't an option. But it's only a few minutes' drive at most to the fun area of town.

Thank you for your most recent review of our hotel. We agree that our staff is one of the friendliest you will find and we take pride in the cleanliness of our rooms. We are 3 miles away from the Historic Downtown District, but the advantages are the ease of parking and the lack of noise from traffic and the train. To access downtown, the free trolley is available for your use to get to the Historic area's restaurants and shopping. There is no need to struggle with finding a parking spot. When compaing our prices, one must take into account that it is the busy tourist season and the rates reflect the high demand of our area. Come visit again during the shoulder season or the off season and you will find our rates more in line or below that of the average Hampton location.

My husband and I used reward points for 4 nights at this hotel. My husband is a Hilton Diamond Member, so we have stayed on many Hilton brand hotels throughout the world. The hotel is on the outskirts of downtown Durango, so not really convenient. However there is a trolley station out front, so that is a plus. Use the trolley, it's great! The staff is wonderful and incredibly friendly, however the hotel itself needs help. The rooms are so outdated and the bathrooms look like something from an old hospital. The lobby is dated as well and everything has an old musty smell. Not exactly the Hampton Inn standards we are used to. Hopefully they will update soon and the hotel will meet the quality of the staff.

We are so sorry that you did not find the hotel up to your high standards. We proudly will admit that we are one of the origial Hampton Inn's and are one of the reasons the hotel franchise has become one of the strongest brands today. Updating rooms is always tricky as you have to time it for the least impact on our hotel guests. But this winter we will begin the process of modernizing our rooms and lobby while keeping our guests comfort a prority during this time. We hope that you will return in the near future and find our rooms refreshed and up to your expectations. Please come again and let us know what your impressions are of our upgrades. All the while the same friendly staff and clean rooms will always be available.

Property is on the north end of the city, away from most activities, so keep that in mind when you book your reservation.

Stayed 2-nights to get away from the heat in Phoenix. Room was clean and freshly serviced.
Front desk staff was attentive and well informed of activities and traffic delays in the area. Breakfast / coffee area was too close to the check-in area for any sort of semi-private dining.

Even though it is not very new it is a nice Hampton Inn. It is according to the locals we spoke to the newest hotel in town.

We always stay at Hampton Inns or other Hilton properties. This one was very high priced which I accepted because of the Durango location. Our friends went to use a blanket (wrapped in plastic) from the closet and assumed it was clean. It was dirty with something disgusting on it !!! Someone had left sex stains on it. Sheets AND blankets should always be cleaned after a room is used.

It goes without saying that we take accusations such as this very seriously. We most certainly agree that all linens, blankets and towels should be cleaned after use. It is the policy of the Hampton Inn franchise and the owner of this hotel that all bedding and towels are changed out regardless of use or non-use at the time an occupant checks out.

The blanket in question is a spare blanket stored in the closet, covered in plastic to indicate it has been cleaned and not used. We find it highly unlikely that a person would take the blanket out of the plastic, soil it, fold it back up and then return it to its plastic covering. Because of the seriousness of the accusation, we inspected all wrapped and stored blankets in every room and in storage. Upon the inspection we discovered a blanket that had been scorched in the dryer and had a discolored spot that had also changed the texture in that area. The vellus blankets are susceptible to scorching if the wrong temperature setting is used when in the dryer. We are sure that this is what happened to the blanket and regret that house keeping missed the scorched spot when folding the blanket. We find it highly speculative and unfair on your part to assume the source of the stain.

It is my understanding that you and the General Manager have been in communication about this issue and that you have been taken care of and the appropriated apologies were given. We service thousands of people and rooms each year, and take great pride in the fact that very few incidents have occurred concerning the cleanliness of our hotel.

arriving late and finding out that they had only one room of the three we had reserved was rather shocking to say the least...they had entered the wrong month in the system!

I know Hamptons are low-cost comfy places, that don't necessarily offer everything a fully priced hotel offers, and this is why I stay in them for head-down stopovers, but I had the impression before I booked that this Hampton was sufficiently close to the centre of Durango (a lovely little place where the famous train runs from) that I'd be able to amble along the main street. In fact it's way away from the town (I was passing, not stopping so just wanted a bite to eat in the meantime) and to this degree, if you're visiting Durango is not idea.

Having said that it's a Hampton, the beds are v comfortable, the staff are nice, it all easy parking etc etc. The problem with this one...because it's Durango, it's way over-priced for what it is. So whereas I always pick Hamptons for being what they are meant to be, for Durango I would make sure I stayed in the town.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain room view to improve the experience.

We are located on the north end of Main Ave. in the city limits of Durango. We are located 2 miles from the Historic District. The advantages to staying in our location is its central location to many of the area's attraction. Ease of parking, lack of noise (including the train at 7:30 in the morning), avoiding the high price tag for a night in the Historic District, and the free trolley that has a stop right outside our door. Its a great way to get Downtown, avoid the parking and fee's for parking and a great way to see the town. The busy summer month are more expensive then the winter low season. But if you compair us to other hotels in the area, I think you will find that we are competatively priced and a good value for the service you receive. Don't forget we also offer a large free breakfast every morning.
