There was no light in the Travelodge sign to begin with. Our room and bathroom was not clean. We had to sleep in a sleeping bag on top of the sheets on the bed because it felt so dirty. The bathroom had not been thoughly cleaned. The empty cardboard toliet paper roll was still on the roller with a half a new roll sitting on top of it. The towels were threadbare and ripped and there were only two of them, and we were in a supposed suite. The floors were dirty and the grout was lying loose in chunks on the bathroom floor. The entire experience was bad.

I would like to start by offering our apologies for your stay. I understand that our hotel is a home away from home to our guest and to have an experience like yours in not acceptable. We are now under new management and leadership and with this come new standards. We are in the process of switching the entire hotel into the cleaner and massively liked triple sheeting set up. We are also implementing new housekeeping and cleanliness standards. Although this cannot change your previous stay we hope for the chance to show you the change and serve you again.

As a lot of hotels/motels in Durango were full we got stuck here. The desk receptionist was great at selling the rooms but when I got to my room found it dirty, furnished with old, worn, 50s furniture that looked like it was bought at a flea market. There were 3 spiders crawling on the wall, the surge suppressor was hanging next to the TV console, the wire from the TV went into a hole in the wall, the carpet was dirty and not vacuumed. You could tell that the room hadn't had a good cleaning in a while. It was hard to sleep because the outside light was so bright and, with only window shades, there was no way to block out the light. The pillows were very lumpy too. The rooms at the far end of the property need to be totally redone or not rented out (most weren't). It looked like it had been a while since the parking area had been cleaned up too (that should have given us a clue). There was also a full trash can that needed to be emptied. I refused to stay in the room with the spiders and got my money back and stayed in another room with a friend and that one wasn't any better. I noticed that the room I left was again rented out even after my complaints of the spiders. These rooms were NOT cheap either! They were worth about $40 but were charged over twice that much.
Don't even consider staying here!

Room Tip: Check the room first! And don't accept a room at the bottom end of the property.

We are very sorry for your unsatisfactory stay with us. We have just recently undergone a serious management change and are working to make changes all of the property. To start I would like to address the issue about the spiders. I completely understand your complaint and apologize. This year has been very hard with spiders and we have and are investing finds with the professionals at Orkin Pest Control to handle the bugs. We were not the only hotel in town who has had this issue but that is still no excuse. We are in the process of redoing many of the rooms at the hotel, this includes a much stricter cleaning process and higher qualified housekeepers. Once again we apologize and hope that in the future there is a way we can serve you again and this time much better.

We were disappointed in the overall appearance, upkeep, cleanliness, in this hotel. I had to "re-clean" the bathroom floor and get rid of spiderwebs and a live spider. On the bright side, their towels were better than the ones we found in the next hotel we visited on our trip; so was their broadband speed!

We thought Travelodge would be a good bet, as we have stayed in several around the country. Boy, did we get a surprise.
The A/C (Ha) didn't cool at all. Thank heaven it turned cool in the evening, and we got by with just the fan.
They were using couch pillows for pillows on the bed, instead of regular pillows. Like sleeping on a brick.
Enough space around the door to almost see out, and no safety lock, just the one on the knob.
Checked out after one night, and went elsewhere. This hotel doesn't come up even to the standards of Motel 6.

Room Tip: If all the rooms are the same, stay somewhere else with better rooms.
