The pictures don't show the real motel, it is much older and not as appealing. Our room was quiet enough and appeared to be clean but the carpeting was very stained. Bed was comfortable. If you just want a lower priced motel, it is OK but there are other motels which appear newer and the price advertised on there signs appear to be less $.

We are not very picky but this was the dirtiest place we stayed in on our one month-trip through a fairly big part of the Southwest and Midwest. Had there been a choice, we would have left - but every place else was booked. The couple (planning on) staying in the room right next to us decided to quit Durango altogether after testing their room for about an hour... The beds themselves were clean but everything else was not. The balcony displayed numerous stains and was so filthy you did not even want to stand on it - much less sit there. Yuk! Definitely don't stay there.

Our room was quiet enough and clean. Bed was comfortable, water hot. I like that the tub and toilet are separated from the counter and there was plenty of counter space to spread out. That's the good news. On the down side, we were told they did not have extra pillows, the bulbs in the bathroom were bare bulb curly CFLs, the shower head was so low that I had to duck under to wash my hair and the plug in the bathroom didn't work at all. All of these are maintenance and customer service issues that could easily be fixed and need to be fix to get a better review. I expected better for the $100 price tag.

We decided last minute to check out the USA Pro Cycling Tour and found may places booked up. The Travelodge had decent ratings so we took a chance. I was a bit concerned upon arrival since the place looks pretty sad on the outside. The room was better then expected although it could have been cleaner (carpet stains and glass marks on table). The room had a strong oder of cleaning solution (we think) so we opened the windows and let it air out while we went into town. It was much better when we returned a few hours later.

The man behind the counter was very nice and hooked us up with a couple of extra pillows, no problem. We wanted to get up early and be in town before the festivities began at 7am so we asked about early check out and he took care of that too, no hassle. Since we left before breakfast I cannot comment on that.

The free trolley stops right out front of the lodge which was a big bonus to us. We were able to shuttle into town quickly and not have to hassle with parking or paying meters (our last visit to Durango we missed the meter by 5 minutes and had a ticket!) - they don't mess around. The trolley runs ever 20 minutes or so which made it nice for us not to have to wait too long.

Room Tip: We were in room #2, close to the street and with the door closed we couldn't hear any traffic.

My daughter and I needed a a place to stay while on a fly fishing trip in Durango. We were very happy with our room and service at the Travelodge. We knew going in it was on the main drag and an older property but it was just what we needed after a long day of fishing. I also liked the free breakfast in the morning.

We brought our family here on vacation to Durango and were very dissapointed with our service here. We were traveling with my parents so we had booked 2 rooms when we walked into our room the smell was so overwhelming I almost puked right away. It reaked of dead grass like if someone had taked a whole bag of grass and left it in there overnight. I was on my way to the office to complain when my parents said here take our room we will deal with it. So we took their room which smelled but not as bad. Then we noticed that the lock on our door was not only broken but just fell off righ to the floor. We could not believe how run down this place really was. Next we discovered that they had only given us 1 washcloth and 2 towels for a family of 4 so I went to the office to ask for 3 more and 2 more towles and the man at the counter said they never got their shipment in and all he could do was give me 2 hand towels.. so needlesss to say we were unable too take showers there. Then as it was time to go to bed we pulled back the dirty bedspread only to find the sheet were filthy and looked as though they had not been washed. My husband was ready to check back out and move on to another hotel but it was getting so late and with little kids we ended up toughing it out. The only good thing about the place at all was the breakfast area it is clean and neat but very limited with cold cereal, mini muffins, and a wafflte iron. Thank goodness I brought my own coffee because the coffee in their breakfast area was so strong I could have used it for motor oil. Overall I would say this was one of the worst motels we have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: Watch out for dog poo in the courtyard.

We are terribly sorry about your unpleasant stay. We are in process of updating our rooms and hope to be done by winter. We have just recently had a change of management and the standards are much better. We hope you voiced your complaints to the front desk so the problems could be addressed. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience you had during your stay.
