Stayed here for 3 days with my family. Spent extra for a river view that was well wroth it - very quiet and great to look over the river and see the rafters.
Breakfast was traditional fair, omelettes to order, cereal, fruit, limited hot selection etc.
Staff were very good and helped us with European adapters and it was also useful to have an Alamo office in the hotel (given a problem with our car).
The only let down was the pool that was small and made our eyes water (Hilton have subsequently said they check the salt levels 3 times a day).
The best things about the location was location. It is a walk across the highway to the Durango & Silverton Raailroad, shops and restaurants of Durango.

Very nice room and the bonus was a view of the river. Used the supermarket next door to get a salad and wine and sat on the balcony to enjoy the view. Room was very comfortable with all the facilities you would expect. Fairly close to downtown Durango so ideal for an evening stroll. Only stayed the one night, but very enjoyable. Free coffe in reception always helps.

Not only was our room ready early, but to our delight we found a fruit and cheese plate and bottle of bubbly in the room with a card signed by many of the staff wishing us a happy anniversary trip. What a nice way to start a lovely stay. As a Hilton HHonors Diamond, we received free breakfast - the breakfast buffet was very good and a table overlooking the Animas River was a nice way to start the day. Every staff member we encountered was great. Room was clean and spacious. Sitting on the balcony in the evening delightful. We hope for a river-view room next trip

This is the first time we've stayed at a Doubletree and we were pretty happy with our stay. Usually when you trade in credit card points for a hotel stay, like we did for our 3 night stay in Durango, you end up with the worst room in the hotel. So when we got to our room, I was a little nervous since we were next to the service/electrical room. But we never heard any noise from the hallway or adjoining rooms, even though the hotel was fully booked. Our room was huge with a lot of open space. The one noticeable cleaning issue was a good amount of dust along the baseboards in the hallways as well as several stains in the hallway carpet.

We had room on the top (fourth) floor with a small balcony facing the town. Between town and the hotel is a busy, 4-lane road with constant traffic as well as the Durango/Silverton train station. Turning on the room's A/C drowned out the noise from both. If the weather is nice, I recommend booking a room on the third or fourth floor facing the river. There is a small road just across the river and a busy intersection at one end of the hotel. If you do book a riverside room, be sure to ask for room number 326 or higher on the 3rd floor or 426 or higher on the 4th so you hear less traffic.

There is a nice, paved hiking/biking path along the river just behind the hotel. There is a large chain grocery store next to the hotel and it is a short 2-3 block walk to the main drag in town. Other than check-in and check-out, which was easy and pleasant, we didn't have much interaction with the staff. Overall, a pleasant stay but I give it 4 stars since I suspect most hotels of this caliber would not have the (minor) cleaning issues this hotel has.

Excellent location, best of any hotel in Durango. Hotel staff was excellent; rooms were clean with good beds. The hotel could use an interior facelift but you don’t think about it as much since it tends to blend with the surroundings. Our 10yr old described it as a "Grand Western” feel. Also stayed there for business in May, so I would definitely recommend it for both.
