“Charming Inn”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012

This is a wonderful place to stay in Durango. It has the feel of an inn or B&B; the staff is so friendly and helpful, and really make you feel welcome. We parked our car, and didn't need to use it for the two days we were there. The breakfast was wonderful each morning and the cookies were a delicious welcome snack in the afternoon. I wouldn't hestitate to recommend this place to family and friends. We enjoyed the live entertainment in the courtyard on Wednesday night and the use of the old-fashioned bikes. The room we stayed in was roomy, well-appointed, and clean. The only drawbacks during out stay was the lack of parking and the insomniac that was in the room above us (lots of pacing throughout the night). But neither of these things would prevent me from staying there again.

Such a wonderful place to stay. Formerly with the Marriott Corp., I can attest to this well run, comfortable, exciting hotel. Where else would you want to stay in Winter or Summer. Stay here and you have the choice of skiing Durango Mountain Resort, Telluride, Silverton, and Wolf Creek (most powder of any CO resort) on any day. Walking distance to most of the great restaurants here, all local activities start here. Being a trained chef, I found the breakfast to be fabulous. Their great chefs bake their own goods and guests can have a special warm breakfast complimentary any day. Don't forget to use one of their free bikes to see the town and ride the famous Animas River bike trail.

Room Tip: Several are dog friendly and every room is unique.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us! I relayed your comments about breakfast to Kelly and Carolyn in the kitchen, which they very much appreciated. It was a pleasure having you here. We hope to see you again.

We recently enjoyed a two day planning retreat for Music in the Mountains at the Rochester and had a wonderful time. Kirk and his crew provided a full suite to our team, enabling all to stay in separate rooms, but also included a great living and fully stocked kitchen area so we could relax, enjoy some meals and down time in the same area as we worked. When we were out of the room, we moved to the lovely courtyard/garden area at the back of the hotel and continued our meeting in a beautiful environment. We are locals, so very much appreciate the great location of the Rochester as it is in the heart of Durango in walking distance from everything anyone would need.. great food, entertainment and shopping. Thanks to the entire crew at the ROCHESTER! Good luck with our upcoming US PRO CYCLE TOUR!

This is my new favorite place to stay in Durango! Very cool hotel with character and awesome breakfast! Everyone was really friendly and very welcoming. The location is perfect for access to downtown, but set off a quiet street. I will be back!!

Love this hotel - great rooms, location, service and incredible breakfast. Deseri is wonderful. Highly recommend. We screwed up our reservation and they were very understanding. All our friends stayed here and we had a ball. Outside patio a wonderful taste of CO. Bravo.

The hotel has been kept up well. Our room was nicely decorated and spacious. Breakfast was included and was very good. Lots of fresh local fruit and freshly made baked goods. Terrific location because it is in the historic downtown.

The Rochester Hotel is a quaint and beautifully remodeled hotel. The staff were attentive to our needs and the owner, Kirk was friendly and gave us interesting historical information about the hotel and Durango. Our room was detailed with antique furniture and very comfortable beds and pillows. The towels were delightful, too. The hotel was conveniently located near Main Ave. and the train station, but not too close to be bothered by noise. The breakfast was delicious. I didn't mind spending a bit more for a hotel that pays attention to detail. We will stay there again.
