“Excellent food in a historic hotel restaurant”
Reviewed September 12, 2012 via mobile

Had dinner here. Elegant atmosphere and polished service. We ordered the trout, but were told that they were out. On the waitress's recommendation I ordered the elk, and it was superb. My wife's sea bass was somewhat overcooked. Had Bananas Foster for dessert. It was prepared table side with no delay. Memorable meal!

“Best place in town”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

Food was excellent. Brook trout among the best. Setting is charming and service very good except for dessert. If you order bananas foster be prepared to wait. Apparently there is only one cart used to make it table-side. On a crowded evening the wait was 20 minutes. Otherwise eat here. If you are a guest at the Strater Hotel, one drink each is complementary.

“Great rates for theater goers”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

If you are attending the theater at the Hotel Strater Theater next door, you get special prices with special menus. We wound up with about 12 menus for 4 people, but the food was excellent and the service excellent.

“great food and drinks!”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

We had bought tickets to the Melodrama at the Strater Hotel and they had a special that included dinner. Before dinner, we had drinks at the very beautiful bar between the hotel lobby and the restaurant. I ordered a margarita and it came in a 12 ounce glass, salt edged and all. Very very good. There were two menues offered ($19 and $27). We all chose the lesser menu, but the choices were excellent. I had the pot roast as the main course, and a cold melon soup for an appetizer and a chocolate cake to die for for dessert. A very helpful and available waiter and top service. Great restaurant!

“Nice atmosphere poor value”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

High prices and small portions. Food was pretty good, service so-so. I just wouldn't go back with so many other good options in Durango.
