Yes, they ship it in fresh daily. We went for their happy hour at 5pm. Appetizers are half price and $1.00 off all drinks.
We started with the oysters Rockefeller. They were excellent. Next we tried the steamer clams. They were some of the best we have eaten and we are from Washington State and know good clams.
Our bartender/waiter Chris was outstanding. Very personable. Our one glitch was the clam chowder. It was too thick and not tasty. Chris removed it quickly when we both set ours aside. He apologized but everything else had been so delicious that we really didn't need the chowder.
The Red Snapper will be on our list of where to eat when we return to Durango

We dine here about once a year and have a very large group. This year we had 30+ people. The wait staff is exceptional, the food is delicious and is appealing to the eyes and the taste buds.
There is a salad bar that can be added to your meal but is almost $10 and I have always felt that was too high. I had grilled Salmon and my husband had King Crab Legs. We have never been disappointed at The Red Snapper.

Lovely seafood meal - crab stuffed mushrooms was fantastic- I had the Mahi Mahi with risotto my other half had tequila prawns with linguini. All washed down with an excellent Sauvignon. Made a lovely change from some excellent steaks we've had on this trip and the service was top notch. (Ben).

With an aquarium in the entry, and other tanks arrayed through the restaurant, Red Snapper announces its specialty from the get-go. Other things are on the menu, but, seriously -- why order anything but seafood at a place named after a fish? Daily specials and entrees come in large portions, but for smaller appetites many of the appetizers can suffice quite nicely, especially the tasty crab cakes. Crab lovers may also indulge in the king crab legs, which arrive well-cracked and easy to extract. The wine list is decent if not exceptional, and service is friendly and efficient.

Well, I was pretty disappointed. The service was good, but the best part of this meal was the wine and the company. For being a long time restaurant in Durango, the Snapper has lost it's place in the high end dining arena. We had a lot of happy hour appetizers, the crab mushrooms were very greasy, the crab cakes tasted like they were from the freezer and the shrimp tempura was cake-y and think, nothing crisp about it. The shrimp cocktail was fine, but not an impressive meal. The atmosphere, which I was expecting to be more up scale, felt like an Outback. Not sure whats going on there.
