Description: The Palace Restaurant features classic American cuisine. Steaks, seafood, pasta, great sauces, homemade breads and desserts. You can elect to dine in our family-friendly Victorian tavern and order from our moderately priced tavern menu or sit in our elegant dining room and order from our fine dining menu. On our summertime patio, both menus are available. Our restaurant is located in a circa-1880 building and is styled with beautiful Victorian furnishings, such as dark woods and Tiffany-style lamps. Our dining room fire place makes for a romantic evening out in the winter and our tavern and patio are "local favorites." From casual to elegant, we provide a very special dining room experience, with great, classic food and a friendly staff. Please join us!

It's sometimes difficult to get great choices at a restaurant for lunch. Yesterday, my husband had the chicken & dumplings, their signature dish. It was simply delicious, rich, creamy, plenty of chicken and dumplings lighter than air. I had the half-Reuben sandwich with a bowl of the locally-sourced creamed corn soup. Along with 2 ice teas the bill was $28. Lunch was plentiful and delicious. The food took a while to arrive at our table, but it was a busy lunch crowd. The staff was attentive. We may go back tomorrow to try other items. The location is also unique, as the restaurant sits next to the train depot.

The Palace is right next to the Durango Silverton train station, which instead of a distraction is quite fun. Outdoor seating and indoor seating offering a nice variety of appetizers and entrees at very reasonable prices.

We visit Durango a couple of times a year and always include a stop at The Palace. We had lunch in the bar on NFL Sunday and then had to come back for dinner. I had the chicken Paillard which was pointed out by our waiter as a new item and was glad he did. My wife had the cobb salad.

For dinner we had , popcorn shrimp and the best calamari in town, followed by the duck and PJ's pasta. It's amazing that the service and food remains as good as it was the first time we ate here fifteen years ago. Our only regret is we can't eat here every week.

See you in the spring!

We felt the service and food at this restaurant was average and probably would not return. Nice location and view and fun outside dining but food very average and service was slow and not attentive servers

Durango has "Burger Night" specials at numerous restaurants but none that do it better than the Palace on Monday nights. It's a half pound quality chuck burger with many choices for toppings and it's hard to get the tab much over $6. My usual is blue cheese and green chiles added to the usual lettuce and tomato on a good ftastig bun. The key lime pie also gets a top rating here. The atmosphere and outdoor dining next to the train station make it one of my every week stops.
