I do not want to slam this place because the service was very good here. This place does have an older feel to it. And I enjoyed the atmosphere. However, the drink that I ordered was watered down, and the steak and shrimp that my wife and I split was ok but not great. Everything (except the vegetables) was cooked ok, (The salad bar was ok, except that the ice that the serving buckets were on, kept getting into the each container and watering down each vegetable and dressing.) The food was a little bland, and for the price of the meal, we just expected a little more.

Expensive but a very good steak. The interior is a decoration of history. Salad bar was small but ok. Steak was cooked perfectly. Service was very good.

If you are looking for an Applebee's meal at a steak house price, this is the place. I agree with the other review defiantly skip the Ore House and go to Sweeney's. Prices are about the same but it is a world of difference.

We went with our four year old and was appalled at the atmosphere. Do you remember eating at Sizzler? We waited 30 minutes for our table which is to be expected for a great meal. We were unhappy as soon as we were sat next to the salad bar and the kitchen. If I had one more person (including the wait staff)knock into my chair I would have got up screaming and running out the door.

We had the crab cakes and scallops for an appetizer. The scallops were tiny and the crab cakes were mush. We ordered the New York strip medium and received it some where between rare and medium rare. The steak had no flavor and had more fat than meat.

Even the chocolate cake a la mode we took to go was bad. How difficult is it to mess up chocolate cake smothered in ice cream?

To make matters worse, we were over charged $30.00 on our bill. We had paid for our bottle of wine at the bar and then we were charged again at our table. We left in a hurry and did not notice the mistake until we were on our way back to the hotel. My husband went back to correct to the bill and was not offered anything for our trouble. Hello! free dessert would have eased the pain. The waitress had the nerve to say that she had to cover her --- and charge us for the wine or it would come out of her check!

Save yourself the torment!

Save your evening and go to Sweeney's.

Meal was so so, salad bar was in complete dissarray and wait staff was bothered to be there. Steak was poorly seasoned and had very little flavor. Was cooked too long on a grille that was too cool. Never develped flavors, was more baked than grilled.

We used to frequent Ore House every trip to Durango, but after 2 very bad dinners that were the negative highlight of our vacation, we skip them.
