Yes, this place is neither fancy nor well lit; however, the salad was crisp, the Flat Iron steak scrumptious! We thought quality might be lacking since the Flat Iron was the cheapest steak option. It was melt in the mouth, slap yo' mama good. Cooked to medium rare perfection, served in its own juice and a solid 10 ounces. It was excellent even for this visiting Texan. Overpricedany ? Perhaps so but has anyone considered how far our dollar value has fallen, $4/gallon transport and increased food costs and wages? Notice how many restaurants in Durango are closed. Ore House has a first class Flat Iron, expect to pay a First Class price for it, buckaroos! Highly
recommend you book reservation via Internet!

Not the Old Ore house ! Over priced and food was covered with sauces that were just to rich. No salad bar any more....All entrees cost extra if you want a baked potato it is extra, salad is extra, bread is extra.....order a glass of wine and pay dearly for it but get a small shot glass like serving........ Service was great but prices were super high...Will not go back....

Restaurant looks rough-hewn at first look - at entrance you see a bar and think this is just another Durango pub. Nothing special about restaurant room either, but service is surprisingly friendly and steaks are excellent quality and prepared well. Not cheap but worth the freight.

You walk in and see a bar and not a high-end bar. In fact the rest of the resturant does not seem high end. It was certainly clean, very clean.

Remember the old saw, never judge a book by it's cover.

We started with the Fried Calamari and Artichoke Hearts with smoked jalapeno aioli -and- O'hara's jalapeno jam. It was out of this world good. The organic mixed green salad was great

The Bone-in NY Strip (28 day aged) and the Ribeye were marvelous - and we usually can easliy pass up on steaks - but we were in the west and we were at a steakhouse.

We went when all bottle of wine were 50% off - so we had an excellent cab

But the BEST part was all of the waitstaff. I wish I could remember our main waitress' name, but she was wonderful and it fact everyone who waited on us were supurb.

So if you are ever in Durango, maybe on your way to Mesa Verde stop in at the Ore House

The Ore House is a nice local flavor dining experience. It is a bit pricey. The service was very good and always fun to have happy people at a place like this.
