Dropped by on a weeknight based on a recommendation of a hotel clerk from a nearby hotel we stayed in. This spot is on the north end of town. It's a pretty small spot, and not as fancy as some of the other breweries in town such as Carvers or Steamworks. More of a small bar type atmosphere, which some may like better than the bustling environment of the other breweries that you will pay more for. They have a patio outside which would be nice to chill at when the weather is good. I had a couple pints of the Durango Amber Ale ($4), which is some pretty good stuff. They give you shot glass samples of any beer you like, but after trying several others, I liked the Amber the best. You can check out their website for info. on their beers. They have a decent enough selection though that should please most. My buddy liked the Amber as well. The staff was friendly and laid back. They have a relatively small food menu that includes appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. It looked appealing enough, and the prices weren't bad. However, we wanted to try Zia Taqueria, which is more or less diagonally across the street, so we didn't try the food.
They have a horseshoe shaped bar you can sit at, or about a dozen high tables. I would have preferred some smaller tables or booths, or some sort of more comfortable seating, but if you can handle the high chair thing, you will be good. The tables outside on the patio are lower style though. The air conditioner was struggling to keep the place cool. There is one vent above the bar, and that's it, and the area farthest away from the bar was stifling hot with the evening sun blasting through the windows. If they can't improve the air conditioner situation, they really should put a couple of ceiling fans or some type of fans in there to move air around with the weather is hot. There's really no excuse why they can't run down to wally world and buy a couple of 20 dollar oscillating fans at a minimum.
If you are staying on the north end of town, and/or don't want to fool with the hustle and bustle of going downtown but still want to try some decent beer, I would recommend this place for sure. They are clearly on a smaller budget than comparable spots, but you are also likely to pay less for food & beer. I'm sure as long as it's not too hot, you will enjoy it. I will definitely return when the opportunity presents itself.
