Excellent Mediterranean cuisine. Wonderful service and fresh flavorful food. Plenty of room and live music in warmer weather when the outdoor area is open. Especially like the meze.

“Bland Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

Our server had the least amount of personality of any restaurant I have visited in a long time. No food descriptions, recommendations, or interaction at all... water glasses left empty for most of the meal. Perhaps she was having a really rough night... but this was my first and only visit to Cyprus Cafe.
Meze was nothing special, Salt Crusted Duck was on the dry side, and the local sausage in the Cyrprus Cioppinno looked like something I would see in a breakfast burrito. Why not give Cyprus one more try and we ordered the chocolate pot d' creme... chocolate pudding would be closer to pot d' creme... the sugar was not even dissolved. We told the waitress it was not very enjoyable and her only response was this is the way we make pot d' creme here. ... she did offer to take it off the bill.
I really love to support small restaurants but Cyprus really needs to step up its service and cooking. Nothing interesting here... in the end the server turned a poor dining experience into a flat out terrible experience... consider the 12% tip a gift.

Thank you very much for your review. Although it is not a good review, it draws my attention to the details that I need to pay more attention to. Restaurants as well as people have off nights, but it is our job to keep them to a minimum! My staff and I will be discussing how we can improve so that every night is an ON night!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

I live in Durango and used to consider Cypress an outstanding cafe. The last several meals there, spread out over a couple of years, have continued to go downhill. Including: a lamb entree with a very poor cut of meat, grisly and full of fat. And not cheap. Locals specials with meals that, when we arrived an hour after cafe opened, were already not available. "Sorry, we ran out." It felt like bait and switch. The Greek combination plate is always disappointing; the most recent featured the worst Tsatziki I've ever had; slices of cucumber with just a bit of watery yogurt thrown in. Not blended, not smooth, no flavor. Likewise, the Baba Ghanoush was absolutely flavorless. The warm duck salad was scant with the duck and nearly missing the citrus that's an integral part of the dish. The patio is lovely and that's the main reason I keep going back in hopes the food will live up to its baffling reputation. However, you must have no issues with being surrounded by dogs while eating.

This place is sublime. Consistantly good good food and now the beverage list is very fun and delish. If you visit Durango it is a must for lunch.

“Great dinner steps from Rochester Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Good wine list (mostly reasonable), lots of wines by the glass while one is contemplating the menu.

Focus on local produce, so we had elk medallions and duck breast. Both were nicely prepared.

Good value. In old house with intimate setting.
