“Great spot for a wedding reception”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2014

We just had our wedding reception at the Sow's Ear. We had never eaten at the Sow's Ear prior to the wedding but had read the great reviews and had heard great things from locals. We had appetizers and a sit-down dinner with choices of ribeye, trout or stuffed chicken. For the kids, we had chicken fingers and fries. All the guests raved about the meal. In my opinion, too, it was one of the best wedding dinners I have had. The service was good and the food all tasted really great. We had a couple of no shows at the wedding and the staff did a nice job boxing up those meals so we could enjoy them later (they were still great as leftovers!)
The bar was also fantastic with a hosted cocktail hour (good stiff drinks!) and then later beer and wine that we had chosen. The bar service was good all night.
We had a DJ and dancing in the restaurant as well as a photo booth and it was SO much fun. Our guests told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to and I think the Sow's Ear played a big part in how much everyone liked it. George, the chef, took our ideas and executed them perfectly. I couldn't be happier about our reception location and we are already planning to have our first wedding anniversary dinner at the Sow's Ear!

“Farm to table gourmet cuisine-the only "game" in town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2014

February 2014 I was skiing at Durango Mountain resort and staying in the condos at the base. After looking on Yelp, we came upon the Sow's Ear and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food. I resist the word "fine dining" as it's more of an upscale mountain resort dining experience, not too fancy. However, the service is attentive and I had one of the best filet mignon dinners I've ever tasted. Everything seemed to use fresh ingredients and they had a reasonable and decent wine list. The location is only 1 mile from the base of Durango mountain and it was so good we ate here twice during our 4 night stay. There's also a large bay window overlooking the mountains, great food with a view!

“Beautiful Location”

This was our first dinner stop as we were staying on the mountain, and it was wonderful! Very reasonable prices for fine dining. They were also surprisingly family friendly.

“Good Food, Good Atmosphere”

Service was a little slow at times, however it was in the middle of the week and snowing hard outside. Food was really good though.
